What are the benefits or problems of having this many people on the planet?
The benefits are that we got more people to think of ingenius ways to colonize other planets and other solar systems...
As I said before, with our current growth rates it is a mere few thousand years before humanity is using the entirety of the solar system's water.
water is a renewable resource dummy, nature does it for us, water can be recycles in a matter of months!
No, eventually all the water will be in use at any one time. It will all be being recycled or used.
Fortunately for us, there is no way we could grow enough food for our population to reach that level.
Look a few posts up. 2% (IIRC) compounding annually dosen't sound like much, but over a century or so it is quite easy to double your population. A few more centuries and a few more doublings and the population shouldn't be too far off the several-hundred trillion max population of the solar system.
Our population is growing at an exponential rate. The increases in growth are astronomical! Mass murder! Civil war! Whatever we can to bring it down!
