actually....If Im not mistaken......doesn't British Rugby have the same way of starting a play? Seems to me they "hike" the ball from the start of a "scrum"
but, just in case you didnt get the whole picture, the "centre" position, is the player who hikes the ball. He, and all the blockers line up along the "scrimage" line (starting position for that play) and he puts his hands on the ball as it sits on the line. The "quarterback" then calls signals (codes) and on the correct signal, the centre hikes the ball between his legs, to the quarterbacks hands, which are also between the centres legs.
