The first instalment in this series was name "Was Miami Robbed?".
Mid football season 2006. Oklahoma is at Oregon, leading the Ducks by two touchdowns. Dennis Dixon, being who he is, scrambles for a touchdown, 33-27 Oklahoma. What happens next is the worst officiating calls since the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. Needing to get the ball back in order to win, Oregon onside kicks. One of the Oklahoma players jumps to recieve it when, out of nowhere, a Duck(Oregon) bats the ball away, clearly not passed the required 10-yard distance. A dogpile insues, players jumping on top of one another looking for the damn ball, but they can't find it! Why? Because a Sooner, five yards from the pile, is holding it up triumphantly. The refs clear the pile and somehow award the ball to Oregon. The Aeuten Zoo goes nuts. So does the Oklahoma bench. After extenxive review, during which an ESPN annoucer said that "there is no doubt in my mind" that the ball was first tipped by an Oregon player. Somehow, the refs again award the ball to Oregon, who promtly march down the field to score. If you would like to see the footage, a click here. Was Oklahoma robbed not only a game, but a possible BSC Championship Title bid? You be the judge.
Note: Oklahoma almost won anyway, but the would-be game winning field goal was blocked as time expired.
