Points Reset

Postby hecter on Sun Nov 11, 2007 2:14 pm

<Subject>:

* Concise Idea: You can reset your points back to 1000

<Body>:

* Suggestion Idea: Simple, anybody can choose to reset their points back up/down to 1000. I think some people of varying ranks, low or high, would like it.
* Specifics: For a minimal fee, you can have 1000 points again, just like when you joined. Say you're a cook on a bad losing streak, or perhaps a captain that wants a fresh start. For say, 2-5 dollars, you're back at 1000 points. The fee should help prevent excessive abuse of it.
* Why it is needed: I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would love a fresh start again.

That could open the door to massive point inflation, never mind actual abuse...

Wouldn't it help prevent point inflation? If you have 2500 points and you reset them back down to 1000, that's 1500 points suddenly out of the system.

Maybe if you could only reset down, and not up?

Why would someone with 2500 points want to go back down to 1000? Just doesnt make sense to me, it seems that only those ower than 1000 would use it...

Why would anyone want to lower their score intentionally (with the exception of deadbeating for fun)?

Also, why should cooks be allowed to pay for a boost in their score? (Because that is what it boils down to in such a scenario.)

I don't think it's a good idea.

The system is already setup to make it easier for those with low points to gain points faster, and those with high points, to lose them faster.

The way the system is setup, there should never be a need for a point reset.

I don't think we'd have a problem with resetting your points back down to 1000 if you requested it, but I don't think allowing those under 1000 a chance to bump back up would be a wise thing to do. I could see that being abused.

The buttons should also randomly swap position. Like WinZip's trial version.

On-topic: The system makes sure that you get more points if you win when you have a low score. SO you just need to win to get back up!

no point to it, It would create a false representation of your skill, and why would you want to lose points?
