Story-telling time!

Postby Skittles! on Sat Nov 10, 2007 1:47 am

Alrighty, me and someone from the site are planning on creating a story or something.

We need some more ideas. It centres around a schizophrenic sufferer, and it has lots of blood and gore in it.

We need some ideas for have some happy areas of insanity and some sadistic areas of insanity.. Or something..

Also, we need to know any kind of little things you do that you consider "weird", in private, anything from private fears to unnoticeable habits. You may PM me, Skittles!, this if you don't want to tell in public.

Could you give what you have, or at least a summary?

this isn't a story review, its more like a survey, and we're asking for things about you, what do you think of thats personal when you hear what skittles posted?

obviously some people won't want to answer personally if they're too embarrassed, and thats alright. But we want to encourage the personal stuff, we're gathering information

yo, this isn't a post-your-own story thread either, so don't unless it would relate to the questions :)

funny areas of insanity (happens to me all the time) = getting into arguments with yourself that consist of "shut up" "no, you shut up" "no you" and so on

not a joke, but a completely pointless argument.

Hey, that's interesting. Thanks.

Satan.. Our character has a glimpse of reality and a glimpse of false-hood. Suicide has a part of it when something is very stressing or something.. It'll evolve over time.

A most dangerous habit and yet so firmly ingrained that he knew nothing of it. Blinking, breathing, counting....they were so inextricably intertwined. The counting of people in a room, bricks on a wall, straight lines in a business office full of cubicles. No one seemed to notice this quiet obsession and truly it would have been harmless to anyone around him were it not for the dark specter that consumed his soul and drove him ever closer to the precipitous edge of unreason.

I'm speaking of course of his paranoia. Like any such thing it began slowly with innoucuous and idiosyncratic habits. He stopped shaking hands with even his closest friends. He began refusing to sit with his back to a door or window. While others noticed this they tried, understandably, to hide their discomfort from him. This was all the sign he needed. Those false, friendly smiles and tense greetings were all he needed to confirm his deepest fears. He uncovered plot upon plot, only to reappear the next day more besieged than ever by his manifold enemies. Something had to be done; it was a matter of self-preservation. Allan would not allow himself to fall victim to the nefarious plots of his various "would-be" assailants. He was aware; and constant vigilence would allow him to walk away as others fell victim to his mechanations.

That actually was pretty good, CA.. Are you a creative writer in spare time? Or do you just read a lot of books?

Oh shush beezer. I'm not here to get perfect English correct. It'll be fine in this story of ours but I don't necessarily care in the thread. :)

Shoosh isn't a word . Shush is the correct word in that alignment of the sentence.

Thanks,

I'm glad you liked it. My forte' isn't really creative writing, but as an English teacher I have to be familiar with various modes of writing. I'm much more comfortable with essays (surprised? )

Not particularly. I, myself like essays a lot and I find them easy to write. My English teacher said I'm good at creative writing so static_ice and I (haha beezer! Can't get me now!) have decided to write a story together, but first we need to get ideas off the fears of actual people to fit it into place.

Ok in that case Allan (my anti-hero) is probably deeply troubled by fear of rejection. He never really fits in, and to him his attempts at social behavior seem red flags that broadcast to a sneering and snickering world all of his feelings of inadequacy. He sees others as if they only pretend to tolerate him looking all the time for an excuse to fire him, berate him publicly, steal from him, etc. Nobody ever actually does any of these things, but he attributes that to luck, and increasingly to his own wit at outfoxing them.

You might watch the movie "A Beautiful Mind" or read the Elric of Melibonea saga by Michael Moorcock. They both deal with a sinking into madness/ immorality in their protagonists. Although the film may not be as useful.
