Err... nope. You mean when I said he was my favorite king? I'm talking from interest and historical importance, not admiration. It doesn't do the truly objective historian much good to 'admire' anyone under study (perhaps with the exception of the venerable Bede, of whom no praise is too great).

Perhaps we're blinded by the decades of systematic abuse and violation of even the basic human rights.

I think the tally for deaths and executions either without trial or with flimsy court-martial is something along the lines of 30-40,000. I think their are estimate reaching into the hundreds.
