Just a little mad over this game.

Postby cdnfireman on Sun Nov 04, 2007 2:00 am

Hey I enjoy playing this game, you take the good with the bad, good dice rolls bad dice rolls what ever. I can't call this cheating because they both deney an alliance when I called it out in round 12, but here we are at round 16 and I've just given up, and told them so. Game # 975728 I almost wiped out green around round 7 or so, red was there and could of finished him of. Instead both of them sat there side by side and built up armies, and when they did attack, I think was 2 times after I called out they had an alliance, it was for just one army. Of course now they are dominating like crazy. This is the first time I've come across this, is this normal play or am I going crazy? Both players are high ranking with great feedback, so should I just suck this one up as a lesson learned?

Thanks Shady, I was going to stop playing at round 12 because it was just stupid, but thats not my style. I'm always up for a challange and I tried for 4 more turns, but it's obvious I don't have a chance. So I guess I'll just let the winner have my points and carry on :D

Red does look dominant now... and has a missed turn 2x coming, but green appears to be in survival mode with no extra bonus and all lumped on one spot.

IF... you were large back when you nearly extinguished green, there may have been a fear of you running the board, which put them on the defensive.

Hang in there, never verbally throw in the towel and never give up.

Naw it was the first game here I gave up on, Green was building armies while I was trying to battle Red, of course both where side by side and never attacked each other, like either was a threat to each other??? I was expecting Red to wipe out Green after my two failed attemps, and dominate the game. It's just one of those games that i found to be completly stupid, I would much rather get out and start a new game. I just feel bad for the blue player as he doesn't have a hope in hell with these two clowns, which of course don't have any alliance or truce

Sorry to say this but I feel they are just using smart tactics - why would you attack 20vs20 and hand a big advantage to the two other players? (or lose the advantage you had)

Good players in flat rate and no cards build up their armies and don't go attacking just because someone has a bonus, they leave it to other players to break bonuses for them if possible, and strike when the time is right.

My apologies if I've missed something as I've only had a cursory glance at the game, but that is the impression I get. To be honest you come off as being a bit irrational in the chat. Giving up on the game because you don't like or understand the tactics being used by others is stupid.

In any event, don't always assume that players who use tactics you don't like/don't understand are cheating or have an alliance, it may simply mean that they are poor players, or better players than you ;)

Looks like red was just being smart at first, killing off green wouldn't have given him an advantage when you were his main threat. Letting green stay weak and ignoring him if he couldn't just run in and grab his land for a nice territory bonus while focusing on you was the smart thing to do. Green didn't appear to be set up to gain from recklessly attacking red and leaving himself weakened for either you or red to finish off. Though from the looks of it he wasn't in a position to gain no matter what he did.

To summarize: Red was just playing smart, and green wasn't in a position to do anything.

I looked to your game & to the chat because i also had bad experience.
This is common on CC (as in any game i guess).

What is not common is the way players react to it.
By "not common" i mean every person reacts his own way.

In such a situation i often reacted as you are at the moment, so i understand you. More i play, more i'm going to the conclusion that when facing such situations, reacting makes absolutely no sense.

Why ?

Your own interpretation of what you see may be wrong.
What you see as an unfair alliance can be a temporary & valid strategy.

-> If it is, arguing, shouting or crying in the chat won't change it.

-> If it's not, the players will just smile, won't change this strategy, and you will lose value & respect in the game.

In such a situation i think the best is to "forget" about that game & to focus on yr other active ones. Turtle somewhere and make yrself ugly to kill (if cards game). Wait. Games situations sometimes change on a few rounds only. Make yrself ready for a nice opportunity.

Whatever happens, don't leave a red FB unless the teaming is really blatant. A neutral has more impact, as when you read them, you see that many reds are retaliatory and just a result of anger.
