Tuvan Throat Singing

Postby DaGip on Sat Nov 03, 2007 10:17 pm

I was wondering if anyone can do this? I am trying, but I do not have it yet...I can play the didjeridu and I thought Tuvan Throat Singing would be a good accompaniment with it. I was also thinking the Slovak Fujara would be a good combination as well.

Can anyone Throat Sing, play didj, or the fujara? Or if you don't, what other types of strange instruments do you play? Please post some videos or audio examples.

Here are some vids:

The first one is Tuvan Throat Singing. Apparently the human voice can sustain up to 4 different notes at one time by using a form of chanting. The higher pitched whistles you will hear are coming from the same guy at the same time he is making a chanting drone...amazing!

This next one is a didjeridu, this is what I can play. I do not have any videos of me playing yet though.

The last one is with the Slovak Fujara, a large shepard's flute from Slovakia...my sister-in-law is Slovakian and says she is gonna get me one! I can't wait!

Do you think that these three techniques and instruments would sound good together? I am thinking a bagpipes as well.
