The things that refered to iluminati were the establishment of the idea that there were three cities that were kind of their own countries. There was an attempt to connect them with Egypt because of the oblisks. Then the film suggested there was a corperation named "The Crown" and it basically owned a significant portion of the land in the worls and the incorperation of the United States of America.

Norse do you know who Joseph smith is? I'm not a hater but to make him out to be some sort of pharonic expert with his egyptologist seems like a stretch to be polite about it.

Basically my problem with conspiracy theories like this is - what's their agenda? What is the point of being illuminati/new world order-types? Do they eat in nicer restaurants? Do they have bigger TVs? Do they cause recessions for fun? Am i secretly affected by their brainwashing, and if so, how does it benefit them? if i rebel, how can i rebel against people and a system I don't know exist? What's the use being secret? Do they have nicer houses? Have they started buying planets? I do not get it.
What i do get is the desire for humans to see beyond the mundane - hence conspiracy theories, about 9/11, the NWO or dealey plaza. But maybe the mundane is all there is, and that's what I meant about economics - economics is the be all and end all. Humans invented it, yes, and now it is our master. There is no other. And we still don't quite understand it, although galbraith (apols for bourgeouis academic refernce, but i think it works) gets close.
