Please take no offense. I hear the "Yanks" jokes all the time.... all in fun my friend.

Oh post the story. Worst two things that happened in France to me were one lady in a small town just south of paris wouldn't let me put regular fuel in the british rental car and another in Deippe couldn't understand when I said hamburger, it was at the "quick" which was a fast food place with the food written in english. Of course it's pronounced "AAAAmbergar" I didn't even figure that out until hours after when I was talking to the phone operator in english looking for the "aaaaarley davison" dealer.

Nothing extraordinary. I was a teenager, my parents took us to a restaurant where after seated, no one would come over to the table and give us menus so my dad got up and went and got them for us. Then my mom ordered "mushroom crapes" and got a bowl of mushrooms. Walking down the streets of Paris people acted as if I didn't exist, bumping into me as they passed by.

Lol, when I went Paris we made sure we went to a international fast food place. Ended up at KFC, they understood us fine. Rest of the time I was at Disneyland Paris, where loads of the staff speak English so it was fine.

I know France isn't that far away from England, so it's not as if you're going to the other side of the world, but still.. why in a new country would you eat at the same places that you do home??

I'm going overseas next year for the first time, (mexico, cuba, jamaica, puerto rico etc) I'm looking forward to eating and going to place's ive never heard of before. Should be great...

Also, KFC is just shit.

I've never made it into Paris. I'm thinking the rude is cranked right up for all the tourists.

Lol, I eat the local cuisine normally when I go on holiday. I was only at Paris for 3 days, and 2 of those days were at Disneyland Paris, and one day (well, about 6 hours) in Paris itself. Restaurants would have been too expensive, and we just wanted to get the meal out of the way so we could look at the shops and the city.

If I go on a real holiday to France anytime, then I would eat French food, but when I went there just really wasn time or any point.

Fast food in Paris is generally more expensive than a regular good restaurant in most other places in France.

I was in Paris recently, and this gorgeous female copper gave me the haughtiest look of disdain I've ever seen, for some reason I can't exactly remember. It was great. I wish I'd remembered my camera.

I hope her dislike for me was genuine, though. I'd hate to think she was putting it on just because I was a tourist.

And that was the wrong thing to do. I don't run a country (probably a good thing too, I'd be asleep for most of it) but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't support nuclear proliferation. But of course, I don't think america isn't opposing pakistan becuase theylike them a lot better than iran - I just don't think because they're biased politically minded bastards, that means we should pile shite on their "good" actions.

On my first trip to Europe in 2001 I missed two spectacular photo ops.

1. Some guy in a company van mooning Stonehenge. My wife was horrified and asked, "Why would he do something like that." She was the reason right there.

2. Being used to the traffic circles in france where the person in the middle must yeild, I made a rush at one nearly t-boning a car as I was suposed to yeild being on the outside of it in UK. The kid in the passenger seat gave me the best look of disgust I've ever seen. It's image is still burned in my mind but I wish I could share.

Mooning is a time-honoured British activity, but was the kid's look of disgust stereotypically English?

My Frenchwoman made her point with a barely-perceptible arch of the eyebrow and slight lowering of the eyelids, in a way that, I like to imagine, only the French can.

not that I agree with him (his 911stuff seems a litttle dodgy but im used to it based on somethe people we get in France (yes, they are a LOT worse than xtra   , they blame it all on freemasons though))

but at least he thinks outside the system

in Europe he would be thinking just the way the system wanted him to ("hey look you can question official versions of events we live wih free speech WHATyou racist you think the arabs did it  ),but for an american, well

at least hes original.

Americans are kings of conspiracy theories. I don't think xtra is that original, but he has a spirit, and that's always good in my book.

Well the thing that made it so amazing for me was the look was not typical of anyone on the planet. I could be completly off and it was british but currently I'm thinking no, as I've never seen it before or after.

I think being there for a week I would have annoyed someone at least that much and seen it a second time.
