What do English think of the NFL game in Wembley?

Postby GreecePwns on Sat Oct 27, 2007 1:43 pm

Just wanted to know what you English think of this, and if the NFL is getting anything out of it.

I think that they should just forget about expanding the NFL. Did they not learn anything from NFL Europe?

And why don't the fans care about losing a home game? Do they not know the importance of them?

Personally, I couldn't give a shit either way. I could go and watch rugby in various places for much cheaper prices (£20 for rugby vs £65 for nfl - go figure)

QFT
65 British pounds = 133.40 U.S. dollars FYI
That's crazy.

Yeah, but that's the FA Cup final. This is just a regular season game.

The actual quote:

"The closest thing I know about London is London Fletcher [Washington Redskins player]"

NFL player's are not trumpeted for their intelligence. It's not like they're all retarded, but they'll let them slide by if they're good enough. Still, it does hurt when I hear any American say that. It pretty much justifies the world's opinion of us.

The NFL itself is making a TON of money off this though, seeing as its going to be packed to capacity and the amount of souvineirs and concessions sold, which most profits go to the NFL.

I sang along with god save the queen, but I don't know the american anthem(watching at home). I for one think it's wonderful, soon we'll own great britain.

Globalisation is great.

Thought that was an ironic use of the British spelling of the word. All things considered

I don't watch rugby ever, so I've even less interest in the NFL. Didn't even know there was a game on until I read it in the Metro (free newspaper) this morning!

Suppose if people want to pay to watch it in London, fair enough. Their money ... but can't say that it's made me take any interest in the NFL.

Ice Hockey's the only American sport I can be arsed watching tbh, one of them most interesting layman sports there is - behind Gaelic Football and that Irish game where they beat seven shades out of eachother with a hockey stick ... Hurling?

Could that be because rugby is "the norm" there and the NFL is a once in awhile treat?
