We still have a little under 3 months and we got over an inch just in the last 2 days with rain expected to continue for the rest of the week. Meanwhile, I live on a river so I can get water anytime I want. But yes it's getting rather serious, to the point where many have started to make jokes about "borrowing" some water from Texas.
The deal is that the Chattahoochee is the main source of water for Atlanta, W. Georgia, NW Florida, & E Alabama. Georgia wants to cut back on the amount of water going into Florida from the Chat. to help conserve water here, but Florida keeps arguing against it, because of mussels that live in the water where the Chat meets the Gulf of Mexico would suffer if water levels become lower and they use the Chat. for drinking water. Also I believe you are right that they use water for power but the main issue is more centered around the Chat. We have similar issues with Alabama and the fact that many of those that use the Chat for their water supply don't have ANY water restrictions and are using water freely.static_ice wrote:strike wolf wrote:static_ice wrote:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21382688/

my teacher also mentioned some feud between Georgia and Florida...something like Florida's water powers the whole state so they don't want to share it
