New Sequential Format

Postby zorba_ca on Tue Apr 04, 2006 8:01 pm

I'm a big fan of the new randow format to determine who moves first in sequential games. However, there is one annoyance that I was hoping could be resolved.

Would it be possible after generating the random order of play that the players in the game be listed in this new order?

Right now the players are listed in a certain order (Red, Green, etc...) but since the player named first on the list does not begin a round you have to reference the game log to determine when the round will switch, and this affects things like card counting, armies, etc... Visually it's uncomfortable.

Thanks.

I personally am not a fan of the whole randomized aspect, would it be possible to make it an option at the start?

This ramdomized start is terrible in team games, when you have to play, then wait all players before your partner. The ramdom aspect should be by team, at least.

God Bless you, zorba! It is very hard to plan and strategize, especially in a flat rate game, if one does not know the order of play. I support this suggestion!

Fully support this one. Red should always be the first to play, but not neccessarily the first to start the game.

While we're at it, check out this one as well...

I think we all do - that's not the problem. The issue is that since the random starting format began the order listed on the game play screen is no longer in the correct order.

The first player name on the screen (directly under the Round #) is always the first person who joined the game, but that player is no longer always the first to play. I am suggesting aligning the game play order with the player list so the first name in the list is actually the person who is the first to play in any round.

The sequence of play still is the same. Red goes then green goes and so on. Why is it a big deal that the first person to play be at the top of the list. Its not like the list is crazy out of order mean, 1st person goes, then 3rd, then 5th, then 2nd. Something like that would be confusing. but the sequence is still correct, the game just might start further down the list.

I like the random start much more. I know people who used to wait on sequential games so they could go last and tear to pieces everyone else who has just attacked each other to get a card with minimum fuss on the first turn.

If you think about it, the random start is exactly like playing around a table playing the actual board game, and rolling a dice to see who goes first, then play goes clockwise from him, the order is not changed, just when the next round begins and so on.

So, basically what Hoff just said :)
