Hello my name is Enter Smith ...

Postby Enter Smith on Wed Jul 12, 2006 4:48 pm

My addiction to Conquer club started off very innocently. A certain pirate out there sent me an email about this new site. I stayed as a free member throughout the first few months, spending whatever time possible checking my four games. As summer approached and two months vacation loomed I had to sign up for a premium, hey I would have time on my hands. Time on my hands, hmmm. I think the premium has led to carpal tunnel syndrome in my mouse clicker. I have gone as far as to change hands so as not to create lasting injuries. I checked with my insurance company. They said my health plan would nt cover treatment for my addiction or injuries resulting from said addiction. What is a person to do. When school strts again in the fall I hope there is some way I can renig on my premium membership, as I will never be able to prepare form my classes. I wonder if I can somehow bring it into my instructions, hmmm that is a challange. As you can see my mind is constantly on how to deal with this addiction, what is a person to do. Whats that, my kids are calling. They think risk is my new job. Shhhhhhhh, nobody tell them different. As I sit here with two windosw open, one for the form and one for my games, I can safely say that I am not addicted. Spouse? What spouse? I think she is living in Tameriel. What its my turn gotta go.....

Hey Roger, how are you going to tackle you addiction wihen you leave the closet and take a two week honeymoon with my sitser? I'm sure she will leave the laptop at home...

Lack help me, no wait, don't.

That is hilarious. Do you mind if I e-mail your post to my bride-to-be? Tell your wife to give us a call when she starts planning your intervention and we'll be happy to come up to assist (what with me being the source of your addiction and all).

Once when my wireless mouse ran out of batteries and I was too lazy to go buy new ones, I was able to navigate the site and play using only the keyboard. Perhaps incorporating keyboarding will help to alleviate the health risk (pun not intended) caused by repetitive mouse use?

I've already started paring down my games in anticipation of our trip and I'm not joining any new games except for tournament play.

Oh yeah...and we're taking the laptop!!!

you can go ahead and send it to her. I'm sure she will understand my addiction. She has hardly seen you creep out of the closet recently. See you soon, I must get back to my addiction, no its not an addiction. My one true addiction is cupcakes.

This will give a whole new meaning to "coming out of the closet".

I will also mention your fascination with cupcakes in my e-mail. She loves making cupcakes.

Unfortunately, we have barely enough $$$ to get past the corner store (and only if we don't stop in at the corner store). Our plan is to have no plan - we will spend a couple of weeks wandering aimlessly around eastern canada and just chilling out. In the future, if we have some money lying around and time to spare, we'll do it up right.

My CC Confession

Postby Fireside Poet on Mon Aug 07, 2006 8:28 am

I am the Fireside Poet and I am an addict.

I started in late April and was content with my minimum 4 games for a few months and had a few wins under my belt, suddenly, I began losing to those .. dice (nevermind the quality of players I was against). My points began to go into the drink and I couldn't stand by and let that happen, so I took the plunge with a $20 via PayPal and that very day marked the beginning of the end. But it wasn't all rosey...

I used to be ashamed of my addiction and when my wife or kids would walk unannounced behind me, I would quickly alt-tab to "Microsoft Excel" (work) and lie to them, telling them that I had to document how many employees we had in each country (why there were 40 in Kamchatka, I'll never know). With this shame and guilt, I began to expound to them what I had been doing all along ... the late nights getting to bed, the early morning excursions *shame* ... but they took it surprisingly well and seemed to understand my impulsiveness. Admission was my first real step in the long road to recovery... may it fail miserably.

You have heard the term "one thing leads to another", but this isn't the case ... sometimes, one thing leads to the same thing. Just ask me, I'm an addict.

See you on the battlefield.

My name is RD and i am a conquerholic. I realized i could not overcome my addiction alone and so, that is why i am here.

I have tried the conquer patch and the conquer gum but, it only helped while i was sleeping.

My shrink says i'm suffering from a Napoleon Complex. She said I was the right height for it but, did not expect me to go into full conquer mode so quickly.

alas, even therapy doesn't work.

With you as my friends, I would hope that either you all can break me of my addiction or assist me in working out a better playing schedule.

"sniff" "sniff" "sniff" & a tear from my eye. (can you guys picture that)

I love you guys. i so desperately want to annialate all of you. all i think of is kill & conquer. search & destroy. kill or be killed.

Please.... help me

My name is JGood, and I am an Addict. It's kind of a shame really, I wasn't always this way...
I was a fan of the board game when I was younger, but getting a game going now with my friends is a little tough ( I am 29). So I searched online for an internet sight that would allow my freinds and I a chance to play each other across the country. I soon found CC and the first time I tried it it was free. ( Those damn pushers...first one is always free.)
So i played, just one game at first, but that 6 peson sequential game wasn't enough....I wanted more....So I played a three person freestyle game, and won. I had a whole new confidence! I tried my first new map, CCU after this gem, I was searching all the maps, new worlds, new strategies. I couldn't get enough. I even went into a doubles game with AK_Iceman, and Highborn with a ? as my partner!!!!
My wife went away for a weekend with work, and instead of playing poker, I couldn't hold out anymore, I PAID FOR IT! $20 isn't that much, but it is a huge step in the addicts' slide to the gutter. I opened about thirty games, and just waited for my turn in each one. My wife came back to a Zombie. She rolls her eyes daily in the morning and night as she walks by and sees the maps on the computer.
Wacicha then introduced me to the Grease Monkey script. {GAME OVER}

The worst thing is that my friends still have not visited the site. although I have a few new ones

Help me, I don't want to get rid of my addiction, i just want to control it...

I hope that this will help others to have the courage to come forward. It has helped me. now i need to go check my games.[/u]

Am I an addict when my pregnant domestic partner is talking to me and I don't hear a word she's said because I'm too busy counting armies? Because I don't FEEL addicted.

...yes, I said "domestic partner".

My friends say i'm addicted but i'm not. I stay on the minimum 6 hours like everyone else. Sure, i like to play risk, but it's not like i time how long it takes until my turn.

Haven't lost my job to it yet. I have however skipped some school classes last semester and my marks dropped 20%. Good luck in university to me!

that and the fact that it's past 2:00 am here and i have work at 8:30 tomorrow, but i'm still waiting to make another move in any game before i can sleep quietly.
