Coolest Counter-cultures throughout the Ages

Postby btownmeggy on Fri Sep 28, 2007 7:52 pm

Name your favorite COOL sub-cultures from history!

EDIT: I meant COUNTER-cultures...

In chronological order:

1.) The Encyclopedistes

I imagine them dressed in black, sitting in taverns, scribblings taxonomies, striving to record all knowledge.

Image

2.) Sufragettes and Bloomers

In the late 19th century, feminists starting getting a little crazy, smoking cigars, riding bicycles.

3.) Avant-garde of the 1910s and '20s

What a tripindicular set these folks were. I cut it off at the 20s, because even though they were still cool in the '30s, they were also fascists by then.

4.) Whoever was listening to Serge Gainsbourg in 1967!

Sub-ciltures, hmmm, Generation X. Basically if not for them, we would not have the technology of today.

(I hope I got it right.)

Christians were pretty baddass back when they were like, worshiping in the catacombs of Rome.
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.
