While the American bomb is equivalent to 11 tons of TNT, the Russian one is equivalent to 44 tons of regular explosives.

11..TONS?!! our most powerful non-nuclear weapon is not even ONE megaton?

Wow!!

I don't know if this is a very good thing (less environmental side effects than a nuclear bomb) or a very, very bad thing (as much destructive capability without the environmental side effects that deter deployment).

I love how the article still played off the fear of Russians, though. Fucking communists, errr, fascists, errr.....

The general guy says that they're as efficient as nuclear weapons, nuclear weapons are very inefficient in terms of what they do compared to what they can do. It could be as powerful as a very small nuclear device, but I doubt it. This is more of the 'mines bigger then yours' game Russia tends to play, if it was very successful no one would be talking about, so I doubt its true.

Global politics makes me think of a giant boys club where everyone is trying to get to the top and make alliances with people they think will help them - Leaders serve to help themselves and those close to them, never the people of the country they are running

"Unlike a nuclear weapon, the bomb does not pose an environmental threat from the release of radiation, he added."

Great, so Russia will be able to kill plenty of people, but at least the environment will be safe. (You can't talk like that Luns...look at the US military illegally invading Iraq. Russia has every right to develop these kinds of weapons because they love peace...it's totally for self-defense)

Do you find any irony here? Because I'm sure the American Military is ALL about self defence

Also, for the record.. I don't think weapon manufacturing by anyone is acceptable - i'm not defending russia here or anything

I don't see a lesson been learnt by Hitler.. You mean; the lesson to create nuclear bombs? Wasn't that a great lesson.

The lesson he meant is if you try to stop someone from manufacturing weapons, they'll do it anyway and kill you afterward.

Like Radiojake said, there is no possible stretch of the imagination that will allow you to clasify America's huge arsenal as "for Self Defence"

By your own admission, American citizens are not any more intelligent, hard working or dedicated than any other country's citizens (yet they are somehow still "the best" ). Why then are they and only they allowed to bear sufficient megatonnage to render this planet effectively lifeless?

You accuse radiojake of double standards, yet your own double standard is plain to see.

It's stoopid. Where do bomb namers go from here? The bigger dad of all bombs? The dad of all bombs that could kick your dad of all bomb's arse?

I would like to take this opportunity to quote bob dylan.

*ahem*

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do
