Please help me understand Greasemonkey

I downloaded greasemonkey and installed it in Firefox. I right click on the monkey and it gives me under "New User Script" a place for a Name, Namespace, Description. What do I put in "Description?" I can't figure out what greasemonkey does. Is there a site that gives step by step by instructions and actually explains what this program is intended to accomplish? Thanks for any revelation.

however, with the new super duper (not in my opinion, cuz i have a T1) Ajax, the scripts don't work, so you have to either deactivate the monkey or the Ajax... to do so, go to my settings...

Can someone HELP ?

I feel like an idiot.

- First, someone who wants to install this feature when reading pages & pages & pages in the forums.... finally wonders WHAT SCRIPT HE SHOULD INSTALL ??? (by the way i'm totally ignorant about those things but ok, i could install G.M. and also take a script (bob 3 i think)

- Now all this is installed and.... WHAT ?

What does actually GM DO ? I see NOTHING special except problems ?

- The maps are now like covered by an "opaque" sheet - very ugly and not really visible map ?
- letters appear beside numbers, which is really messy

I believed this GM was going to manage the "ready" games ?

I'm LOST because when reading the forums this seems to be a FANTASTIC TOOL ??? I guess i'm not the first n00b to be confronted to this
situation and sincerely... reading 40 forums pages to - maybe - understand HOW this works, and WHAT it does.....

Can't someone edit a sticky post somewhere so that people find ALL relevant infos about this ?

In the meantime, can someone please help ? Pleeeeaaase ???

Firstly the good news you have it working perfectly, now you just have to set it to your preferences.

Enter one of your games that has started.

On the left hand side below Personal Menu there should be another menu called "BOB menu"

to get rid of the "opaque sheet" click on Map fade untill it is at 0%
to get rid of the colour blind letters click on colour blind off.

Fiddle with the others untill you get the desired results that suit you

Finally make sure on the personal menu, click on my settings
check that enable ajax is switched to No. Otherwise certain things wont work.

P.S. The main advantages of BOB/greecemonkey are that it gives you a low down of how many countries people have and how many territories and so how many troops they will get. (admittedly you could do this yourself but it is easier for it to do it) Secondly it can show you which countries attack which countries especially useful for new maps. Thirdly it tells you how much the next cash in of cards is worth (especially useful in escalating games)

I have switched ajax to no.
There's no BOB menu in my personal menu....????
Yes, it shows cards next value, but i don't see any troops totals anywhere.

The menu isn't under preferences, when your in a game it's on the left side scroll bar. You just click them to change them.

Look, I've done everything that is recommended... NOWHERE i can see any "BOB" menu when i enter a game

Is there REALLY nobody that can help on this ???

I can't be sure, but it sounds to me like you loaded Troy's script instead of BOB. You need to go to Tools/Greasemonkey/Manage User Scripts. Click on Conquer Club and then on Delete (or Uninstall).

Go back to the main Plug-Ins thread and get BOB. Now, when you enter a game (and Greasemonkey is active - you'll see a red/orange face on the bottom right of your browser) you should see the BOB menu under the Personal Menu.

Unfortunately, no, this is not the issue

The script loaded is "Conquer Club - Roberts Mods", i loaded the release nr 3.
I really can't figure out what's the problem, i use Firefox, i have followed all instructions, deactivated ajax, etc etc etc, the script is obviously working but i CAN'T GET that "bob" menu and it seems the "pro's" here don't have a minute to help , or maybe don't read this
