Is your funny bone broken? I was making a funny about your usefulness as a worker in my game development incubator, suggesting you could use some job retraining from the US Department of Labor.

Obviously I don't know you, so it was just silly joke. The Mork & Mindy reference was just another joke. I think I'm aiming about 6 feet too high, so I'll stop now.

You are certainly welcome to make suggestions. It is probably best to do them on the other discussion group yourself. I'll bring the character concept back to the discussion group if you don't, because I like the idea of personalization too.

Specifically, will it be free? I honestly don't know. I think there's no doubt that it will be free when it is being play-tested and when it is first deployed on my production server. I can completely imagine it being subscription-based eventually for two reasons.

First, there's some overhead costs that someone has to meet. Eventually, I will tire of bearing that burden alone once it gets too expensive.

Second, a subscription is a means to bind players to the game with a tangible commitment. It's obvious already that success within the game is going to be dependent upon cooperative "clanning-up", and all the players will appreciate that others have a commitment. CC is a great example of what happens when there are so many with absolutely disposable commitments. Great for growth, but it has its problems. Those problems probably won't be acceptable in a game the scale we are proposing.

That said, it is going to be open source - so theoretically anyone will be able to take the engine and run it anywhere they please as long as they are willing to foot the bills as they see fit.

Most of your questions (now and in the future) can be answered by checking out the discussion group, developer site or news blog which are open to the public.

I don't know what mork & mindy is either. And I ajven't been doing anything so meh
