Did I pass the interview? :D

If there was an opening for a humorist, I would extend an offer now.

Ok ok, I've started working on the bare bones of that concept you wanted. Essentially the game rips off WOW pretty heavily, but avoids copyright infringement by having the two factions as Primates and Office Equipment (rather than Alliance v Horde). You can choose from one of several classes such as: Chimp, Orangutan, Gorrilla, Gibbon and Swivel-Chair. Then you have to either pick fleas off of other players whilst procreating with other monkies, or sit about in uncomfortable 50% cotton clothing whilst performing menial paperwork until you reach level 70; whereby you sell your character on E-bay and make a mint.
What do you reckon? Am I in yet?

What's the angle for the office equipment folks? Do they gain levels by inflicting flesh wounds (Stapler Wizard) or by generating false transmission OK reports (Fax Barbarian)?

* Game theorists (for core gaming concepts)
* Writers (for marketing copy and documentation)

Even if you are very new to these sorts of things and are looking to get your feet wet, obtaining mentoring is not a problem. All the technical tools you need for this project are freely available.

Roughly, I would guess you'd have to commit about 8-24 hours a month to participate.
I can definatly do those two points with substantial ease.
Plus I do waaay more than 8-24 hours a month. Try a week.
Interested!

The forum is read-able by the public. Providing this small hurdle is the least we can do just in case the conversations get salty.

Honestly, one of the end outcomes of whatever games are developed is that my children can play them - which means the Wild West Frontier thing CC has going on would probably not fly in a finished product I hosted on my production server. However, it will be open source, so it will always be up to the host to set those sorts of limits.

However, that doesn't mean the developers should feel constrained in their conversation to get from point A to point B.

They get it from making accounts receivable balance with optimal budgetary forecasts, by spending time in inter-departmental meetings, and by achieving quarterly market share increases or monthly sales-driven profit margin raises. What do you think?

I think you are shifting the hell out of the gaming paradigm. Parker Brothers stock just dropped on market forces losing confidence in their ability to adapt to this shift.

If he couldn't figure out that was a link maybe he isn't the right guy for the job?

Anyway... I doubt you need any 'creative' people, and I have no idea how creative I might be anyway.

My only real game ideas were Speaker Hunter and a MMO where players could create their own abilities (psionics) using oblivion like formulas and a procedural graphics engine, using points they earn from combat and training. Within some sets of rules.

Speaker Hunter, if anyone cares, was about an ex navy seal who goes insane at an amusement park because the music is so horrible (and other contributing factors that are revealed throughout the story as you progress through the game) and takes it upon himself to locate and destroy every speaker or other sound output device in the entire park. This eventually grows into him hating nearly all music and going on a quest to destroy it everywhere he goes. Other levels I had planned out were Disney World, and a Cruise Ship. I had a few concept art pictures, one where he is standing in an elevator with an AK-47 looking very pissed off as elevator music was playing. The other was him knocking a security guard flat on his ass while blasting away at an amusement park speaker on top of a pole.

I actually own this idea, so nobody else can do it without me sueing them, unless they include me in the project; If anyone was ever crazy enough to do it. I actually sent the idea and my concept art off to several gaming companies. Square seemed mildly interested but commented on not having the resources to pursue it at the time. The rest didn't respond, except Nintendo, who said I should find something else to do with my time, in nicer words.

For those of you that wanted a better idea of where this project was going, we have posted a tentative game concept bullet points.

For those that still wanted to contribute their ideas, the discussion will continue for a few more days before we settle on firm concepts going forward.

Hmm, it looks interesting, a few suggestions though (if it's all right?), personalized characters (similar to avatars), time frame could back farther (if it's all right), and a quick question, will it be free?
"Eh, whatever."
