Someone pointed out a long time ago that Wario looks like he has the same attack animations as G&W. His slide attack looks just like G&W's (you know, the head-butt thing)...

I hope so, though...

IMO Luigi is not a clone at all to mario or doc.
Luigi differs from mario in a few ways.
Different wavedash lengths
Different running attacks
Different smash attacks (Forward in particular)
Different Side B attack
Up B of luigi has a fiery touch if performed next to foe
B attacks have different paths (Mario's fireball bounces while luigi's goes gravity defying straight)
Different Front aerial attack (mario's is a spike while luigi's is a basic anti air from my usage)
Luigi's taunt hurts while mario's doesnt
I think luigi is going to make it. If not, he has a better chance than doc.

With Luigi you don't even have to try to do it. Are you jumping with the x/y buttons? Don't use the stick, you need to tilt that right after to air-dodge into the ground.

use I use the x and y buttons. ;) I just can't do it.

Try hitting the jump button with the edge of your thumb. Immediately after air-dodge down. It's better if you can short-hop, but I guess a high-jump could still work...

If you still can't get it with LUIGI, you've got some slow fingers. Go practice with them

Ok. ;) I can't short-hop

Well I might be able to with Luigi.

Considerign that I did this all on Pikachu, and wasn't able to. ;)

Pikachu's wavedash sucks IIRC. So yeah, try Luigi.

Agreed. I heart his air attacks :)

I just remembered I read somewhere that they've decided not to cut any of the original 12, just some of the clones. They're going to new-ify the others. Woo!

short hopping is only part of it... to practice just jump fully and time the dodge right when you're about to touch the ground... and then pick a character that has a better short hop

As soon as I lift off from ground, I air dodge into the ground and get decent distance. It helps for such great reflexes as it is far less predictable.
One more thing to say when you use wavedashing in a real fight, sometimes you want to wavedash straight down instead of toward him. It might convince him You were going after him a few times, but then he will get wise and pummel you to bits.

It's been too long unfortunately... I could do pretty much everything with him at one point -- albeit not as well as Ken

I've been playing the original a lot lately, so maybe, maybe not.

same here my GCN broke a few years ago and now I never play the game unless I'm at a friend's house who has it; I can't wavedash with sheik anymore and I was just starting to SHFFL :(

but anyway at my peak I was experimenting with Luigi for wavedashing and Marth for SHFFL, I almost had it down it was pretty fun

Probably the most satisfaction I got out of the game was shffl'ing just as someone was recovering back onto the stage and spiking them... the look on their face made the hundreds of hours I've poured into the series all worthwhile :)

Yeah, I've got the Wii so my Gamecube is functioning as a lunchbox atm... but when the other guy sees your character twitch and suddenly they're flying towards the bottom of the screen, all the hours wasted practicing vanish in the wind... er, yeah.

I could use a bit of info on SHFFLing
Short Hop then fast fall then lag cancel?
Feel free to explain the whole thing overall.

Or I could be lazy and copy someone else's explanation :D

The 'Shffl': Shffl. Short-hop, fast fall, L-Cancel. To perform this, tap X or Y quickly, and your character should do a hop that barely leaves the ground. Now, at the peak of the hop, press down to make your character fall faster. Finally, L-Cancel when you hit the ground to reduce any lag. The first question is, ‘Why Shffl?’ The answer is, by shuffling, you can perform your aerials, even when you have barely left the ground. For characters like Sheik, who’s Fair is godly, shhfling is a god-send. It is also a lot less predictable than a running attack, or throwing an item from a distance. If you ever hear a term like ‘Shffl’d Fair’, then the process would be Short hop, Forward A, Fast Fall, L Cancel. ‘Shffl’ is just the general term. -- http://ssbm.detstar.com/advancedmoves2/

haha yeah, it must really pay off for marth, almost all his aerials make for a great groundsweep SHFFL

Ok, just caught up on the thread.

First of all, that tier list I posted [and Fircoal put in the thread] was from smashboards, the same one was posted in the SmashWiki. Second, Fox is a beast, although very difficult to learn. I can barely use him right, Fox's limits lie in the human reaction speed, if the game is slowed down just low enough Fox can beat any character. Also, I {> SHL, Waveshing, and shine spike. His back-air is pretty good, and Fox has the best up-smash in the game [Pika has the strongest, Fox's is almost as strong with much more speed].

Also, in order to do the bomb recovery, you lay two bombs sequentially in the air. First one drops a bomb, and the second boosts you up so that you crash into the first bomb, just in time for it to explode and you go back the stage. Look on Youtube for Mission Briefing SSBM, lists some Samus tricks, excellent video

Wavedash is pretty powerful, but does not compare to the SHFFL. Only a few characters HAVE to use it [like Luigi], for other characters its just a convenient way to go backwards without turning around. Basically, Wavedashes uses lie in spacing.

Also, Luigi do a shorthop, aerial attack, waveland sequence with his moves, as Mario can with his backair and Marth with his forward air.

And I was going to say something else...forgot...

Thanks. When I was complaining about the new Fox earlier I had completely forgotten about his shine moves. It's been too long
