Map Revamps

Postby The1exile on Mon Aug 13, 2007 3:31 pm

Is there a way to use the old map versions?

Not that I'm trying to disparage the works of our estimable cartographers but it's a none hasbro affiliated RISK board not a painting, and on certain maps (Middle East and especially Circus Maximus) I believe I can play better on the old versions.

Meh. Suggestion forum that it not be like that, or can you think of a way I can hack them on to my machine instead?

maybe if someone wrote you a grease monkey which could create an overlay maybe?

But you would need both the large image, small image and XML of the old map. you would have to be able to cancel the revamp info and somehow let the game engine access what you want instead. Im not really sure how it works but this would be my guess.

Yeah, but the old xml and map is probably deleted, so this is gonna be tough. Plus I have no clue how to make the script, but that I can learn.

Just find the original thread for the maps in question.
Make a Greasemonkey script to replace the map image on the screen with the map in a file from your CPU somewhere.

Its easy.

making the script ain't easy, plus you have to parse the xml in - the co-ords on circus maximus and montreal differ from version to version (ha - I wrote that like I actually understood what I meant).
