I can't pick a favorite, but here are two I've been listening to a lot lately:

Street Fighting Man

Ev'rywhere I hear the sound of marching, charging feet, boy
'Cause summer's here and the time is right for fighting in the street, boy
Well then what can a poor boy do
Except to sing for a rock 'n' roll band
'Cause in sleepy London town
There's just no place for a street fighting man
No!

Hey! Think the time is right for a palace revolution
'Cauce where I live the game to play is compromise solution
Well then what can a poor boy do
Except to sing for a rock 'n' roll band
'Cause in sleepy London town
There's no place for a street fighting man
No!
Get down

Hey! Said my name is called disturbance
I'll shout and scream, I'll kill the king, I'll rail at all his servants
Well, what can a poor boy do
Except to sing for a rock 'n' roll band
'Cause in sleepy London town
There's no place for a street fighting man
No
Get down

Sam Hall

Well, my name it is Sam Hall, Sam Hall.
Yes, my name it is Sam Hall; it is Sam Hall.
My name it is Sam Hall an' I hate you, one and all.
An' I hate you, one and all:
Damn your eyes.

I killed a man, they said; so they said.
I killed a man, they said; so they said.
I killed a man, they said an' I smashed in his head.
An' I left him layin' dead,
Damn his eyes.

But a-swingin', I must go; I must go.
A-swingin', I must go; I must go.
A-swingin', I must go while you critters down below,
Yell up: "Sam, I told you so."
Well, damn your eyes!

I saw Molly in the crowd; in the crowd.
I saw Molly in the crowd; in the crowd.
I saw Molly in the crowd an' I hollered, right out loud:
"Hey there Molly, ain't you proud?
"Damn your eyes."

Then the Sherriff, he came to; he came to.
Ah, yeah, the Sherriff, he came to; he came to.
The Sherriff, he come to an he said: "Sam, how are you?"
An I said: "Well, Sherriff, how are you,
"Damn your eyes."

My name is Samuel, Samuel.
My name is Samuel, Samuel.
My name is Samuel, an' I'll see you all in hell.
An' I'll see you all in hell,
Damn your eyes.

3 Songs By Tommy Knox

Tommy Knox wrote:Love of My Life

I cover my face with water from your well
just to keep you on my skin
I Knew that I would never want to lose you
from the day I let you in

And it took so long to find you
Now I know all the love of my life

And I thank god that I found you
I can't believe you're here
do you know how much I love you
I've never seen so clear
You know that I'll walk with you
keep you by my side
I'll never let you go
cause' you're the love of my life.

I just want to stand in front of you
you don't have to say a word
Let your beauty do the talking
and you'll surely be heard

And it took so long to find you
now I know all the love of my life

And I thank god that I found you
I can't believe you're here
Do you know how much I love you
I've never seen so clear
You know that I will walk with you
Keep you by my side
Can never let you go
Cause' you're the love of my life

Let it be the word rang out through the ages
Through conversation, music, and the pages
The countless book that we have read
The words rang through today as they did before
But people just don't seem to listen to them anymore
I will listen to the word she said
I will listen to the word she said

And I thank god that I found you
I can't believe you're here
Do you know how much I love
I've never seen so clear
You know that I will walk with you
Keep you by my side
I'll never let you go, yeah
And I thank god that I found you, yeah
And I thank god that I found you, oh yeah
Cause you're the love of my life.
Tommy Knox wrote:You and I

Put down your bags and come back around
I don't want you to leave this town
I know I've done things that I'm not proud of
Please come back and give me a kiss
And we can just forget about this
Troubled time that we are going through

And remember the days when we played down by the riverside
Nothing to hide except the love we had inside

Because you, and I, could make it through the night
If I, could try, to stop and set things right
We could make it through...

To the thrown upside down and come back home
I don't want to be all alone
I know I've been there many times before
Please come back and give me some love
Heaven sent down from above
Everything is gonna be alright

And remember the days when we played down by the riverside
Nothing to hide except the love we had inside

Because you, and I, could make it through the night
If I, could try, to stop and set things right
We could make it through the night

And you, should have known,
That I, would try to grow,
I may not shine, But I will,
In do time yeah.

Cause' you, and I, could make it through the night
if I, could try, to stop and set things right
we could make it through...
Cause' you, and I, could make it through the night
If I, could try, to stop and set things right
we could it make it through the night, yeah.
Tommy Knox wrote:Prove Me Wrong

She's deceptively promiscuous
A double standard evil bitch
This aint a plot that she wont
This aint a drama she would miss
To get me caught up in

Aint no man she wouldn't use
Every way she'd bend the truth
Bet she is just like the other ladies too

Could you all just be the same?
Brought into this world to drive me insane

If you think I'm gone then prove me wrong I don't wanna sing this song
I'd rather know what girl's out there to help me to move on
It's been so long I'm not as strong, I don't wanna sing this song
So please, oh please just prove me wrong.
Please oh please just prove me wrong

Bet you aint gonna prove me wrong...

Cause' I bet you're secretly permiscuios
Hypocritic evil chick,
Devil in disguise,
Fire runs behind your eyes
But I hope that you're an angel.

I can't lie now
I'm just another pessimist
No faith in loving bliss
Only in persuasive kisses

Could you all just be the same?
Brought into this world to drive me insane

If you think I'm gone then prove me wrong I don't wanna sing this song
I'd rather know what girl's out there to help me to move on
It's been so long, I'm not as strong, I don't wanna sing this song
So please, oh please just prove me wrong
Please oh please just prove me wrong

Help me see through the shadows
Of what she put me through, oh
Call my name and set me free
Let me know that she's not like you, yeah

If you think I'm gone then prove me wrong I don't wanna sing this song
I'd rather know what girl's out there to help me to move on
It's been so long, I'm not as strong, I don't wanna sing this song
So please, oh please just prove me wrong
Please oh please just prove me wrong
Please oh please just prove me wrong

BOREDGIRL wrote:You know those songs that some on the radio and you just HAVE to crank it and sing along? well this is my favorite for that

Kick it out -Heart

Out of the street - get on home
Tail shaking filly running on her own
They say she got loose on the night
She was born
Cranking it up in a school zone

Kick it out - kick it out, she said
Kick out your motor and drive
While youre still alive - kick it out!

Sitting in a bar in a seaside town
Sweet little love getting high getting down
Sailors see her running along the beach
Laugh and jump out of reach

Wild music blowing in her mane
She needs a bareback rider wont give her
No pain
A hard racy game of give and take
Leaves them dazed - half crazed- in her wake

Kick it out - kick it out, she said
Kick out your motor and drive
While youre still alive - kick it out!\

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and this one is good for singin' real loud to too:
Spirit of the Radio - Rush
Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
Begin the day
With a friendly voice
A companion, unobtrusive
Plays that song thats so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood
Off on your way
Hit the open road
There is magic at your fingers
For the spirit ever lingers
Undemanding contact
In your happy solitude
Invisible airwaves
Crackle with life
Bright antennae bristle
With the energy
Emotional feedback
On a timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price ---
Almost free...
All this machinery
Making modern music
Can still be open-hearted
Not so coldly charted
Its really just a question
Of your honesty
One likes to believe
In the freedom of music
But glittering prizes
And endless compromises
Shatter the illusion
Of integrity
For the words of the profits
Are written on the studio wall,
Concert hall ---
Echoes with the sounds...
Of salesmen.
puddle of mudd-spin you around wrote:Ooooo
Come on over the mountain
And I'll meet you at the otherside
Come on over the mountain
And I'll meet you at the otherside, yeah
And if I saw you dancing
I would spin you around, spin you around
If I saw you dancing
I would spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
Ooooo
I'll spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
Spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
If you'll be my woman
I will take you to another high
If you'll be my lady
I will take you for another ride
If I saw you dancing
I would spin you around, spin you around
If I saw you dancing
I would spin you around, spin you around
Spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
Spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
I can turn around
I can turn around
Maybe, baby
I can turn around
I can turn around
Maybe, baby
I'll spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
Spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
Maybe, baby
Upside down
I'm gonna spin you around
Maybe, lady
Upside down
I'm gonna spin you
There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion
I can't get no relief
No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But you and I we've been through that
And this is not our place
So let us stop talking falsely now
The hour's getting late
Well we all just wanna be big rockstars
Live in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars
The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap
We'll all stay skinny cause we just won't eat
And we'll hang out in the coolest bars
In the VIP with the movie stars
Every good gold digger's
Gonna wind up there
Every Playboy bunny
with her bleach blonde hair
And we'll hide out in the private rooms
With the latest dictionary
in today's who's who
We'll get you anything
with that evil smile
Everybody's got a
drug dealer on speed dial well..
Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar
Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar
We've taken care of everything
The words you hear the songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes.
It's one for all and all for one
We work together common sons
Never need to wonder how or why.
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls.
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls.
Look around this world we made
Equality our stock in trade
Come and join the Brotherhood of Man
Oh what a nice contented world
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the Red Star proudly high in hand.
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls.
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls..
All the posters here should start up a radio station, I've seen some sweet playlists: Rush, Nickleback, Heart, Jimmy Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Megadeth, etc.
It's too expansive to start a legal radio station, but I wonder if it's cheaper to start one on the web.
In JR's defense, Hendrix made a bigger hit of it; he took the ball and ran with it. Matter of fact, it was Hendrix's only #1 hit, making him technically a one-hit wonder if you can believe that of someone so influential and ledgendary in the music world.
Favorite song? Tough one, but these are my favorite lyrics. If I had the talent to write a song, this would have been it.
If I Stand -- Rich Mullins
There's more that rises in the morning than the sun
and more that shines in the night than just the moon.
It's more than just this fire here that keeps me warm
in a shelter that is larger than this room.
And there's a loyalty that's deeper than mere sentiment
and a music higher than the songs that I can sing.
Stuff of earth competes for the alegiance
I owe only to the giver of all good things.
So if I stand, let me stand on the promise that you will pull me through
and If I can't, let me fall on the grace that first brought me to you
and if I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs
and if I weep, let it be as a man who is longing for his home.
There's more that dances on the prairies than the wind
and more that pulses in the ocean than the tide.
There's a love that is fiercer than the love between friends
more gentle than a mother's when her baby's at her side.
and there's a loyalty that's deeper than mere sentiment
and a music higher than the songs that I can sing.
Stuff of earth competes for the alegience
I owe only to the giver of all good things.
And if I stand let me stand on the promise that you will pull me through
and if I can't let me fall on the grace that first brought me to you
and if I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs
and if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for his home
OK, now to lighten things up:
I'M MY OWN GRANDPA
Many, many years ago when I was just twenty-three,
I was married to a widow, she was pretty as could be.
This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red
And my father fell in Love with her. Soon they too were wed.
This made my dad my son-in-law--changed my very life!
My daughter was my mother because she was my father's wife!
To complicate the matter even though it brought me joy,
I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy.
My little baby he then became a brother-in-law to Dad.
Well, that made him my uncle--made me very sad!
Because if he was my uncle then he also was a brother
To the widow's grown-up daughter, who, of course, was my stepmother.
CHORUS
My father's wife then had a son who kept them on the run.
And, of course, he became my grandchild because he was my daughter's son.
My wife is now my mother's mother and this makes me blue
Because although she is my wife, she's my grandmother too!
CHORUS
Now if my wife is my grandmother, well, then I am her grandchild,
And every time that I think about this, it nearly drives me wild!
Because now I have become the strangest case that you ever saw
As husband of my grandmother, I’m my own grandpa!
CHORUS:
I'm my own grandpa! I'm my own grandpa!
It sounds funny, I know, but it really is so!
Oh, I'm my own grandpa!
i have no fav song and this is my 3rd post here so lol
madina lake : true love (i love the complete mosh bit in this song)
If I lost it all in a fireball
Would you be there for me?
If the money's gone and the future falls
Would you walk away?
'Cause my confidence is vanishing
Will you leave me starving here
To wither down and disappear
As you walk away?
Then just let me go, let me live
Just leave me alone
Buried here next to love on my own
I'll never trust, never feel, never love again
With this bitter taste in mind
They always say true love is all you need
But when true love is gone can we go on?
They say true love would never leave
But my true love is gone and I can't go on
I'm in the catacombs of a broken heart
Where you used to be when I loved you for
All the reasons that you d yourself
'Cause you were desperate and pathetic
But just as beautiful to me as the day you left
And I became just a memory
Let me go, let me live
Just leave me to lay buried here next to love on my own
I'll never trust, never feel, never love again
With just this bitter taste in mind
They always say true love is all you need
But when true love is gone can we go on?
They say true love would never leave
But my true love is gone and I can't go on
Now it's two am and I'm picturing the way things used to be
But all I see is you looking at him like you used to look at me
They always say true love is all you need
But when true love is gone can we go on?
They say true love would never leave
But my true love is gone and I can't go on
I can't go on
these lyrics are hilarious the first time I read them because in the song you can't understand its too fast
Say hello to the angels - Interpol
I want your silent parts
The parts the birds love
I know there's such a place
I had my back turned
You didn't realize
I'm lonely
You lack the things
To which I relate
But I see no harm
Come wait, come wait, come wait
It's over.
Yeah one...two...three...do me
When I'm feeling lazy, it's probably because,
I'm saving all my energy to pick up when you move into my airspace
You move into my airspace
And something's coming over me, I see you in the doorway
I can't control the part of me that swells up when you move into my airspace
You move into my airspace
But each night, I bury my love around you...
Oh each night, I bury my love around you...
You're linked to my innocence
This is a concept
This is a bracelet
This isn't no intervention
This isn't you yet
What you thought was such a conquest
You're hair is so pretty and red
Baby, baby you're really the best...
Can I get there this way?
I think so
Can I get there this way?
We should take a trip now to see new places
I'm sick of this town
I see my face has changed.
Say hello, say hello, to the angels.
