but here's the key issue: since the US has such a weak labor/progressive history and a huge imperialistic tradition in the last 50+ years, pretty much every mainstream media outlet we have is conservative, relative to the rest of the world. i'm sure there are tons of other factors, and i hope someone here can educate us. there's just not much of a true "liberal" element in the US, therefore the media is not liberal as such. just relative degrees of conservative.
as far as the usefulness of the terms, i agree w/ qeee, but we gotta work w/ what we've got. and to all you fox news lovers, the truth is you've been duped into thinking dems, msnbc, cnn=liberal, GOP and foxnews=conservative. your viewing and listening patterns simply match your voting patterns. i attribute this to the superior savvy nature of the GOP and rupert murdoch's people. the thing is, it's easier for you to think of things in broad (and hateful) categories, and it's much easier for politicians and companies to sell you shit when you think this way. so they put it out there, and you suck it rite up.
until you learn to think for yourself and understand things from at least a marginally global/rational perspective (this is where education comes in), you're just a pawn for the best propagandist/marketer out there.....
please stop ruining the world and the reputation of the US by supporting bush, rush, hannity, savage, etc........
Sorry, but that sounds incredibly condescending. I've never mentioned that I like Sean Hannity or Michael Savage in this thread. Can you not see that your own assessment of people like myself is based on your own personal bias?
What you said was really very pompous.
