Why do you have to congratulate the French for anything? They're FRENCH.

And we are eternally grateful for that. But now that we're rich and famous, we can drop the sorry saps. Besides, if we needed that kind of help NOW, do YOU believe the French would be the first we should call on? Japan would help us out more than the sorry French.

well your 4th of july thread is thriving, but when any other national day was set up, it was locked very quickly. now is that one rule for one and another rule for someone else. this is double standards. granted quite a lot of them threads were just spam, but there are quite a few French people on this site, so i am giving the a chance to celebrate.

Happy Bastille Day! Vive La France! May we always be friends, as we were in The Revolution, the War of 1812, The Louisiana Purchase, World War I, and World War II.

Ummm, War of 1812? France was trying to rebuild from what Napoleon left. Louisiana Purchase went through Napoleon because he needed money and thought he could retake it later on. In the past, they may have been friends, but they turned their backs on us to many times. A little history fact for you, furing the Nazi occupation of France, many Frenchmen (officers, citizens, etc...) willingly helped the Nazis round up the French Jews, granted not all French did this, and some helped the Jews out, not nonethelss, many still willingly helped.
"Eh, whatever."

Yes I have, What I was aying was that war happened right after Napoleon lost at Waterloo and the French were recovering from their war with Britain. Britain thought they could capitalize on Waterloo and retake their "lost colonies."

I forgot about this, just like I forgot about the 4th of July, and Friday the 13th.

Well, it's a bit late now (it's after twelve in Paris, as I type), but for any Frenchmen out there, here's Mireille Mathieu singing La marseillaise. One (French) bloke on CC so far has laughed at it, but I think it's great. It's worth watching for her haircut alone.
