multi question [Answered]

Postby OnlyAmbrose on Wed Jul 04, 2007 8:39 am

ok, let's say i go to a friend's house. I want to get him into CC, so I log in and take a turn or two. Then he gets his own account. Few days later, we join a game together. Since I logged in on his IP before, could be get busted as multis just on the grounds that our IPs matched once?

I'm kind of curious how far mods go in enforcing rules on IP tracking. Can you tell how many times a person's logged in from a certain computer? If so, is that taken into account when multi-hunting?

I think its wiser if nobody told you anything about how they track multies.
After all, then the multie would know what to do to to avoid detection...

Let me tell you this, I never heard of someone being fould guilty of multiíng just because he used a friends computer just once. Also remember it is okay to have a friend take your turns if you are away, as long as that friend is not in that game itself (unless its your teammate). Just state so in chat and you should be safe. Also spouses then to play from the same computer, thats okay too...

however, if in that one time use of your friend computer you started 4 single games against him, and you deadbeated in all 4, well then your prob both get busted...

think it out, you can play from the same computer, just dont make it so it appears you are in cahoots together. If you dont play in the same game, at the same time and from the same computer, you would be able to explain your actions, then you have not much to worry, unless you are a multi.

Sully will get you if thats that case.

I think the "multi-hunters" should be more open about how they catch multis. What to look out for etc, becuase more multis would get caught that way.

Now that you've posted here OnlyAmbrose, you will be fine i think

ambrose, you'll be ok, but you shouldn't need to log on as you first, just help him set up his account. we can tell the difference as long as your friend plays on his own. what we see a lot though is, someone helping a friend set up an account, then when the friend loses interest, taking over the account. While they may have started out as two people, that wasn't the case continuing forward.

Alright, but the idea was to show him the game before he made an account. I haven't done anything yet, I was just thinking about getting a few friends interested.

he can view games from his account. there's no cost or penalty to sign up, so if he doesn't like it, he can just not play. and you can hold his hand and walk him through some games too. And with 2 player games, you can use that to teach him and you don't even have to be at his house.

i login from several places without a problem. i also hva a couple of friends that play from their home on the same ip and they also come to my hous and play from my ip.

as long as we don't cheat there's no reason to be busted.

think about it like this. what if your pc crashes and you go to the nearest i-cafe and play CC. probably in that i-cafe there will be others playing CC. there's no way you'll all be busted.

or people playing from school

You look for accounts with similar names (you'd be surprised just how many stupid and unimaginative multis there are out there  ); same Country; playing 1v1 and one player never attacking the other; two players not protecting their borders against each other and still not attacking; there are lots of different ways you can be vigilant. Multi Hunters have their own special ways that we don't need to be privvy to. We just have to be on the lookout to make their jobs easier.
