Who likes pie?

Postby The1exile on Thu Jul 05, 2007 10:52 am

Who on these forums likes pie? It seems to be quite a popular theme.

Also, what's your favourite type of pie?

I definitely love steak and kidney pies, but also beef and onion.

Does anybody have ant humourous stories about pies?

Perhaps the only debate to rival pirates vs ninja, that being pie vs cake

Ninja and pie win hands down

Can't put meat in a cake.

Well you can but that'd be stupid.

Pies rule.

While I will not disparage the taste of meat or fruit pies, one cannot knock the "should be a dinner pie, but works as a desert pie" such as sweet potato, or the "could have been a desert pie, but also works for breakfast pie" AKA Apple, or even the "Almost a pie, but the wrong shape pie" the Great Michigan Pasty.

Whoever said there was competition between cakes and pies was an idiot. The only thing about a cake that could even come close to being a part of a pie is icing.

Ok, for all you pie lovers out there (self included) - i have your Mecca. Last year my son (hookshotwillaby) and i took a road trip, and while going through New Mexico we noticed a "Pie Town" on the map. I really didn't think it would have anything to do with pies, but it was just a short detour to hit it, so we did. It's a tiny place, not really a town actually, but evidently it grew out of a little cafe that was famous for its pies. We both got 2 pieces - 4 different kinds - and all 4 pieces were far superior to any pie that either of us had ever tasted. What impressed me the most was that one of my pieces was Mississippi Mud, which is a southern pie, and although i have lived in the south for over 30 years, i have never tasted a Mississippi Mud pie anywhere near that good. So if any of you pie lovers ever go through New Mexico, check it out. You won't find it on a larger map, but it shows up on a New Mexico map.
