On topic- Protoss are the best and from memory some zerg creations appeared disturbingly phailic

You obviously wern't playing very well if you couldn't take down an unsupported Baneblade.![]()
The Relic units are designed in some cases to absorb firepower (the close combat ones) and in some cases to produce it (the ranged ones). What they are not meant to do is become a 1 man army.DirtyDishSoap wrote:
And another thing...How the hell do flags give you resources? kind of half assed idea was that?
Because DoW is about the strategy and combat rather than resource collecting. Hell, resource collecting dosen't even fit in with the W:40K universe; troops are trained and tanks produced far, far away on planets dedicated to manufacturing for the war effort. Having some guy go out and mine some crystals dosen't really fit that.

Well put. Good luck actuially producing a relic unit with IG anyway. They are so underpowered its silly. I can take most IG players out in Tier 1.5 or 2 with Eldar or SM.

True, Guardsmen have been nerfed a bit too much. Really the only tactic (that i've found) is to hole-up in your base until tier 2-3 and hope for the best.
I think the screwing over of the Basalisk was the worst thing they did to them (other than CotMS; the old version was much better). Most of the other changes are relitavely minor (or good; I love the way you can now tell the Heavy Weapon Teams what to fire at... it was very irritating watching a Lascannon shoot troops when there were much more valuable targets around)
The only time i've found Guardsmen to be effective is in large team games, where some minimum-talent individual sits behind a turret wall until Tier 4 and my usual Eldar don't have the muscle to get them out.

The WA Guardsmen wern't horribly imba, but they were a bit over the top, kind of like Necrons or Orks are now.
Luckily they were never like the pre-patch Necrons; they were absolutly horrible. I was actually proud of a victory over standard difficulty Necron AI they were that imbalanced.
I would recomend getting DoW and WA, because it is very restrictive to just be able to play Tau and Necrons online.
Out of all 7 races (7, count 'em. Far superior to Starcraft's paltry 3) I would have to say that Eldar are the most fun and challenging to play and the most well balenced (Harlequins are the best thing that has happened to Eldar, ever). I would play TT, but I can never seem to scrape up enough cash
