I was a PC kid back then, i didnt get into consoles until the PS2 came out

the dreamcast was my first console, and i reckon some of the games had graphics comparable to the PS2's

Virtual Fighter blew me away for the PS2, later GoW1 and 2 really took it to the next level

Also God of War 3 should be on there too...

There was another one too that was suppose to be really good...Its like Battle Field, except its mostly all about the air combat

The Darkness looks good, COD4, Devil May Cry 4, Guitar Hero III, LittleBigPlanet and assasins creed are all worth waiting for
