UK police punish traitor

Postby bigtoughralf on Wed Sep 14, 2022 6:57 am

While the Queen's coffin was being transported through Edinburgh earlier this week, a man in the crowd showed significant disrespect to the occasion, the UK's leadership and the feelings of other attendees by shouting at Prince Andrew that he was a 'sick old man'.

Thankfully other people around the traitor immediately began chanting 'God save the King' to drown him out, and UK police have now arrested and charged him:

I support the arrest. I agree with UK laws regarding disturbing the peace.

The issue is not with the message but with the disturbance it would cause to the general public who had come to view an event (funeral cortege) and would likely have their enjoyment of the event disrupted by the form of speech (loud shouting) and modification of the customary conduct of the event (solemnity). I would support his arrest even if he were screaming a pro-monarchy message out of context for the event like "DICKS OUT FOR THE QUEEN" while displaying his schlong. You are welcome to go Dicks Out for the Queen but you need to do it a private ceremony like I did.

In the U.S., police don't have authority to stop this type of brigandish behavior.

an arrest with no charge or consequences… like what we do here if someone is a super drunk ass, often they may just get put in jail for a few hours and it’s called “protective custody”.

That said… the idea you have a monarchy in 2022 is pretty silly. No?

You can only do that if the person is obviously inebriated and a danger to themselves. If they're making any type of political or social commentary, nothing can be done. See: Westboro Baptist Church funeral protests.

Yes…I know… maybe.

I was suggesting an action I would support. Not what’s legal or done regularly.

You could theoretically take the person into protective custody if you felt that they were putting themselves / their lives at risk (of attack by the other people attending the event). Basically… “Hey um your disturbance is causing these people to get riled up, and we are afraid they may kill you… we can’t protect you right here… so instead we are going to forcibly remove you to protective custody to extract you from this situation.”

The 1980s lady at 2:45 is the best: "I'm a Christian. I go to church. But I don't believe in calling people whoremongers."
