Who are they going to run for POTUS next election. Seems like a good cycle to run almost anyone. The current guy is probably getting a second term, unless he legitimately slips into a coma.

They're not seriously thinking of letting their last president guy try again, are they? He didn't even get his second term. I feel like the people have spoken. He might want to relax in Florida and wait until the democrats run another woman.

Anyone know enough about what's actually happening within the party?

It's true. The GOP has a lot of built in advantages in gerrymandering

It's a fun meme that the Rats drill into the heads of their lumps so efficiently that the lumps' programming kicks-in and they instantly regurgitate it when they receive a priming signal, like I just sent out with my last post.

But it's not really based in fact or reality.

In six of the last seven elections in which the GOP has won a House majority, they also won a majority or plurality of the aggregate national popular vote, 2012 being the lone exception. So, in other words, if the U.S. had a proportional electoral system instead of a single-seat winner-take-all system, 86% of recent elections in which the GOP has won would still have resulted in a GOP win. So-called "gerrymandering" effects an absolute maximum of 14% of House elections on a macro scale. The mega-corporations funneling money into the Rats' coffers probably have a far greater stilting effect.

The GOP has a monster advantage in Senate makeup. And yet, somehow, the Rats have controlled a majority of the Senate two-thirds of the time going back to 1960.

Ultimately, these are memes that Pelosi and Schumer have drilled into the heads of the lumps as a brilliant career move. After each Rat loss they can just wave their hands and yell "it wasn't our fault - we have structural disadvantages!" Because the lumps don't actually check to see if there really are structural disadvantages, they just nod grimly, donate more money, and none of the Rat Kings have to resign as otherwise occurs in every other western democracy after a general election defeat.

Fast forward 20 years of that and the party of the youth and working class is run by an 83 year old woman married to a hedge fund billionaire.

It's true. The GOP has a lot of built in advantages in gerrymandering and Senate composition. Right now, the Senate is 50/50, but the Democrats represent almost 42 million more people for the same number of representatives. Frankly, the fact that the chart isn't all red all the time due to the built-in advantages for the GOP shows 1. how deeply unpopular and stupid the republicans are and 2. how much this minority rule is a slap in the face of democracy.

If Trump doesn't run... the current 'frontrunner' by a metric mile on oddsmaker websites is the Gov of Florida Ron DeSantis.

I think most of the rest of the field are hesitant to indicate if they would run or not until more is known about Trumps plan. I assume he will run, provided his continued efforts to force a para-military coup fail.

Other names being thrown around:
Nikki Haley (solidly 3rd place on oddmaker sites)
Mike Pence (good luck with that, Trump tried to murder you by proxy so I don't see the party codifying around him)
Kristi Noem
Any of Trumps Kids

We don't vote for the Prime Minister.

I don't believe my incumbent Minister of Parlament has a challenger. I did however start looking up candidates. The likelihood of me voting for the liberal candidate is incredibly low. My incumbent is decent and might get my X.

Remember that when Biden and Trump each got the nomination of their parties in the year they won that they both had to overcome a HUGE field of contenders. Give it a rest and take a break. The next presidential election is at least 3 YEARS away (i.e., November 2024).

That is correct, imo.

Also, there is a growing loss of respect for politics and politicians. Most politicians were already held in low esteem and they keep stooping to a LOWER level.

The polarization, divisiveness, and vitriolic political discussions further cause many persons to dislike politics. What should be good civil discussion of the best way forward has degenerate into a yelling match between two sides.

That is the situation here in many Forum posts and threads. The discussion is often not civil and TROLLS keep adding comments to sow more division, spread lies, and to encourage acrimoniousness attitudes.

Yes, it is too early, imo, and as I stated already.

And I think that Mookie is essentially correct in his analysis. Those are the most likely candidates, BUT again, that election is three years away.
