I don't know what to think about this guy. I really like some of his stuff. Bowling was pretty good and I quite like Roger And Me.

I thought Fahrenheit 911 was a bit lacking after maybe reading too much about the Bush family before it came out.

In a podcast I just found, he is saying there is a poster circulating trying to organize another protest.

Otherwise, a bit too leftist and extremist in most of his positions IMO. Your vid is 50 mins long not going to watch it.

Maybe you think the term terrorist is exagerated and I can understand that; even if it was all planned with fake bombs in DC for diversions...but how is "attackers" exagerated when they reaided the capitol and killed a cop?

Roger And Me is a documentary about GM and the then CEO who was largely responsible for moving manufacturing and shutting down the companies plants.

Back to the current topic... I would agree with saying, "There were terrorists there." Or "Some of the protesters were attackers." Suggesting everyone there was a terrorist is no different than Saxitoxin calling them all peaceful protestors.

There was a pretty diverse range of what level of crimes were committed by those that illegally entered the building. Ranging from something as mundane as the fact they did not follow protocol to enter, some much more serious such as theft or willful destruction of property, up to the murder.

As for the podcast, I had to pause the thing. It's a bit too long to try to power through for me. A bit more than twenty minutes into it Michael Moore is somewhat claiming the entire thing was done by the police.

I disagree with his opinion to the degree I regret posting the video. The guy is promoting fear by loosely suggesting the police did it.

I'm not taking it down, But I want to.

He is claiming falsely that the tactical gear used by many of the attackers is unavailable to anyone except military and police. You can buy it in Canada. It's much easier to get in the United States.

I did listen to more than half of it. Generally I'm intolerant of long speeches. Most people take an hour to say what you could read in five minutes. In an uncharacteristic display of patience, I did listen to more than half.

He's right of course. This was definitely an inside job. These are buildings hardened against anything except a direct nuclear strike. No way would a mob be allowed to seize the capitol without co-operation from people inside. This event was publicized for weeks. Why weren't there extra barricades, cops on horseback, cops in helicopters?

If a leftist mob had tried to seize the capitol, they would have been mowed down with machine guns. A rightist mob is allowed to run rampant. Even the ones that have been arrested have been charged with trivial things like trespassing instead of domestic terrorism and sedition.

Nobody was charged in the mob that seized the Michigan state house, either. Right-wing and white-supremacist permeated all the major police forces. The lack of consequences in Michigan were part of what emboldened the Trumpists to do this. The further lack of consequences (yes, a few are being charged, but the vast majority are getting away scot-free, and even the ones charged are being charged with Mickey Mouse shit like trespassing) for this will embolden the next step.

There will be more incidents.

That's incorrect. See the case of the Wisconsin state Capitol in 2011, which was stormed by a mob of Democrats who tried to lynch members of the legislature. At the time, Nancy Pelosi's only reaction was "this is what democracy looks like." American democracy is under threat — again.

Joe Biden will take office next week with the unquestioning endorsement of all of these institutions, and control of both houses of congress to boot. Biden’s Democrats are now seeking maximum government — not to implement their policies, but to destroy their opponents. They have demanded show trials of Trump and his supporters, an expansion of the Supreme Court so that Biden can appoint his own new justices and the admission of two new states (the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) to cement the Democrats’ control over the Senate.

They even propose stretching the Constitution so far as to hold a legally questionable impeachment trial for Trump after he leaves office, just so they can disqualify him from ever running for office again.

Biden’s supporters propose to change the structure of the American state to ensure their grip on power remains firm for a generation or more. And at this point, the only person who is in a position to stop the country from sliding into such a new authoritarianism is ... Joe Biden.

It is always dangerous to trust the fate of a nation to one person, and doubly so if that person is himself being offered near-dictatorial powers to reshape the country’s institutions in his favour.

Trump’s threat to American democracy was the same old threat, the threat of a power-hungry populist eager for the adulation of the crowd, yet another would-be Citizen Kane. Biden’s threat is much more insidious, and much more serious.
