so basically, what you're getting at is that even though the chinese culture has been around for several thousand years longer than "western" culture, they still haven't figured out how to use the right tool for the task at hand. stupid chinese...

do you suppose their kfc is like that, as well?

No, I'm saying in some areas it's considered to be barbaric to have a knife while you eat. Therefore the food must be chopped in the kitchen so you can eat it with your spoon or sticks.

The fastest way to make a whole or half chicken into bite sized pieces while it's hot off the hanging rack is with a block and cleaver. Efficiency is important, especially at a place serving lots of chicken. Most people there are accustomed to chewing around the bone fragments.

There are several restaurants here that serve chicken that way. The queen chicken is so good at one, I sometimes order it, even though I am spoiled westerner enough to order the boneless in the Thai Red Curry dish from the same place.

Good point. Sanfrancisco probably has more places serving traditional bone in Chinese poultry dishes than any other place outside of China proper.

The hypocrisy of the Republicans is on full display here. I hope they go ahead with it. I especially hope they move quickly and get it done before the election.

Besides, even if the Senate had voted on Garland's nomination in 2016 it would have simply rejected it since the GOP had the majority, just like now. Not sure why Democrats are mad the GOP spared Garland the humiliation of formal rejection instead of simply letting his nomination quietly expire and allowing him to fade back into obscurity on the circuit court.

Your definition of “Lame Duck” doesn’t match the universally accepted definition.

uh huh

[2014] President Obama is now officially a lame duck: no more elections left, and facing GOP majorities in the Senate, House, governors’ mansions — and even the Supreme Court, in a sense, where five of the nine justices were appointed by Republicans.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions ... story.html

Lame duck politicians are serving out their final terms because they have lost a re-election or are no longer eligible to serve. The term is often used to describe sitting presidents who have served two terms, and have entered their last year.

I can post links too.

President Trump has less time in office (unless he miraculously gets re-elected) than Obama did... when Scalia died there was 8-9 months left till election... today there is less then 2 months.

It’s moot... the Democrats will block it.

No, they won't. They have no power. They are utterly powerless due to their own shortsightedness.

In 2013 Dumbocrat Harry Reid unilaterally changed the rules of the Senate to eliminate the filibuster on district and circuit judge nominees, allowing district and circuit judges to be confirmed by a simple majority vote instead of 60% vote. At the time, Leader McConnell warned him if he dared even think of doing that, the Republicans would remove the filibuster on SCOTUS nominees the next time there was a GOP White House and Senate and shove every textual literalist judge they could find down the throats of the Rats. Harry Reid said "the Republicans will never control both the White House and Senate!" and did it anyway.

But they did. And, as promised, Leader McConnnell removed the filibuster from SCOTUS nominees in 2018.

The Rats are mad because Trump and McConnell are going to make them go to sleep in the bed they made.

Meat cooked and served with the bone is generally tastier.... just the facts.

This act (if Trump can actually nominate someone AND get that person confirmed) will have bad consequences for both the US and the Republican Party. Sorry Saxi, it will expose the Republicans for the hypocrites they are.

It will have good consequences for the Republican Party and the party and the country are now a single entity. Ergo, it will be good for the U.S.

The only people who are going to care about the false allegation of hypocrisy, which I've already debunked, are people who were never going to vote for Trump anyway. And they are becoming increasingly less relevant as we continue to consolidate control of all the levers of power in this nation.

Not all halves are created equal.

Our half includes the police, the army, the courts, 90 million paranoid gun owners, the White House, and half of the Congress.

Their half includes women's studies professors, transgender drama therapists, and mookiemcgee.

Why are you all complaining anyway? No laws have been violated. If a law was violated you can sue and get an injunction to enjoin Trump from making an appointment. The Democrats aren't because they can't - because no law was broken.

Anything Republicans said in 2016 was just PR spin. So we violated a press release. Big deal. That's the way the game is played. That's like asking Tom Brady not to run into the endzone because the other team don't know the rules of the game of football. If you don't know the rules, you shouldn't be on the field!

The Democrats could also just get a Senate majority and then none of this would be an issue. It's not like the Republicans are using some secret spell, they're simply using their Senate majority in the way the constitution permits them. The Democrats are allowed to also get a Senate majority. But they've only chosen to do that 6 of the last 28 years. It's not the Republicans' job to help the Democrats succeed at elections.

tl;dr - the Democrats are admitting they are incompetent innocents and are complaining that the Republicans aren't dumbing down their politics so the Democrats can keep up

BTW - what are the odds Stephen Breyer croaks in the next week? Dude is 82 and men live an average of five years less than women (Ginsburg was 87). Trump should have a second appointment waiting to cram through, just in case.

Sometimes, I don't agree with saxi.

But in this topic, he has been spot on.

The claims of being hypocritical have been thoroughly proven wrong in this thread.
