US military overpowered by Netflix

Postby mrswdk on Mon Jun 08, 2020 10:52 am

Forget all those hypothetical discussions about 'herp could US beat China in a war?'. According to latest reports, the US military is currently being outfoxed by an organisation mostly consisting of 20-somethings with MacBooks and 'such a massive oat latte addiction':

The United States Space Force was only announced two years ago and has yet to engage in any military operations, but the latest branch of the U.S. armed forces already stands to lose its first battle -- to Netflix's Space Force.

The streaming service premiered its new sci-fi/comedy series Space Force on May 29. The show's name has no relation to the newest organization of the U.S. military, which unveiled its official flag only two weeks earlier. Because of the common moniker, though, the United States Space Force's first battle might be a trademark war -- fought in court, rather than in space.

Attorneys for the U.S. military have done little to secure the Space Force name as a registered trademark. Netflix, however, has been far more aggressive, and has already locked down the rights to the name in several countries.

I predict no court battle over the name, because no one cares.

I further predict that the Netflix Space Force will last 3-5 seasons... whereas the US Space Force will likely last longer.

What a shit article, there's no trademark conflict.

Two things can have the same name as long as they don't do the same thing. I can trademark Android as the name for a line of cedar bookshelves without infringing on the mark of the phone OS. A TV show is not the same as a military force.

This is poorly researched #FAKENEWS designed to try to embarrass the President but which, in fact, only embarrasses the author.

it is absolutely lampooning the program and the president. They don't name or show him but they talk about him tweeting when India launches a knock off rocket before they do. It's pretty funny.

RIP Fred Willard.

He didn't look that healthy but was still sooooo funny. Probably the best part of the first season for me were Fred's exchanges with his grandaughter

Agreed, another layer to that joke was they had to tell him every time he kept asking them to put her on the phone.

Thanks Mr. Swdke for yet another hatemongering endorsement. As usual, you need to look in the dictionary. Check out the meaning of overpower.

I really wonder why you exist? Your only purpose is ugliness. SMH.

Thanks Miss KoolBak for yet another red-faced overreaction. Can I recommend beta-blockers?

No that Tony is from a different show.

I can't believe they are dragging their feet on shooting a second season. This is why we can't have nice things.

I have been waiting for more episodes expecting they were filming. Darn you all to heck Netflix!
