Mad777, Thank you for your useful comments and sorry for slow reply, I was overhelmed in RL for the last two weeks. Here are my addressing comments.

Mad777 wrote:First, i think it would be best interest and keep the tournament not running for « years » if the tie rule would be just a single game to play rather than the full match.

I already have experience running this kind of events with the same round limits and a single round never lasts for more than 1.5 months in practice (although I know that in theory it can last for 6 months). Therefore, I dont think the tournament will last for more than 1.5 - 2 years and also I will partially start next rounds once when we have determined opponents, so that undecided matches do not drag the whole tournament for too long. Even if it lasts longer, we already have longer tournaments ongoing on CC such as Map Masters which will be ongoing for 5-7 years and is still very popolar attracting about 160 players regularly so far.

Mad777 wrote:Second, and it kind of relate to the above, the round limit is way too high if in addition match to be replay in case of a tie. Your initial setup was for +100 players which most of would have known those « high experienced » map & settings however since you walled hundreds of inexperienced players, after you decided to add a vision of a massive bracket style event, i would say it could represent 60 to 70% of this roster. If those player take 24hr to take turn trying to figure out and play less offensive, you could have a single game lasting up to 6 months! in case of a tie means another possible 6 months to get a winner going to the next round...a bit too long in my opinion, i can think of 30 round limit for every game could be a good compromise.

My round limits are the most optimal PER TURNS. Quads have 20*4=80 turns, Triples have 30*3=90 turns, Doubles have 50*2=100 turns, and singles have 100 turns. What is the point in put all to 30 round limit when quads will then last for 120 turns, longer than anything what I already have in the setup. Number of turns matters, not number of rounds, and I optimized number of turns to 80, 90, 100, 100 with current setup. Given that 1v1 and Doubles get decided earlier, it means that threshold to who will meet Round limit will likely be 80 turns in quads, if anytime it will happen. I cannot go lower than 80 turns in quads.

Mad777 wrote:That same amount may have never play in tournament before, therefore they probably didn’t read the OP because the wall message mainly attract them from the prizes list and no talk about the difficulty of the chosen map/settings, this will bring chaos for them not having a clue on how to play such a setup. I’m not saying to change any map nor settings because it’s now too late to accommodate less hardcore setup for a event having that many people, but i would consider you think about those massive inexperienced player and put yourself in their shoes what they will end up playing  , same would applies to the seeded by score, they may enjoy the first round playing each other but the next would have them playing strongest player who may crunch them with no fun, adding the randomness of facing anyone would probably help, unless you are scare to face a strong player in Round 1  (just kidding).

Massive tournaments with 750+ players will always have a lot of inexperienced players who will not know maps. It is their chance to learn. If you see my first games on CC when I was still beginner, they are all tournament games and that is how I learned the strategy. Seeded bracket is trademark of all my tournaments so far, I think it has a good value. And anyway as Caymanmew said, already many players signed up knowing that the bracket will be seeded so maybe some of them considered that when signing up and it would be unfair to change now.

Josko's 50th Tournament {58 Prizes with 16 Premiums} 749/?

Postby Mad777 on Sun May 31, 2020 8:40 am

I understand and hope all goes well in RL bud.
I never told you, you don't have experience running tournament but you are missing an essential part in your logic, you are taking game length results from 16 players brackets (additionally more experienced players as a whole between those 16) while now you have +750 players, there is a huge gap that you couldn't really say that average numbers would match from a 16 players bracket vs a 512 players bracket.

Hope for the best.... 8-)

Yes you did. Bounty on you with introductory sentence to the Academy is listed on the first post among prizes, bounty number 4 on the list. Who eliminates you from the tournament will be awarded with a GA Medal.
4. Academy Killer Bounty GA Medal - awarded to the player who eliminates the Academy Team Leader dhallmeyer.

You yourself can also earn the Bounty GA medals if you eliminate some of other players who are Bounties as well.
