mrswdk Loses Chance to Sleep his Way into White House

Postby saxitoxin on Mon Mar 02, 2020 8:44 am

Eurotrash wannabe Pete Buttiege, the only openly fancy presidential candidate, has turned out to be a quitter.

Sure looks that way, but Biden has a hope... if he picks the right VP early enough and the middle gets scared enough of Bernie.

From the outside Bernie just looks like Democrat Trump. Why wouldn't he do well? The polls have Bernie comfortably beating Trump in a 2020 race:

While that line may fool a Democrat, it won't fool a Libyan

So you've succeeded in blowing up some more of the world. How is that a selling point?

UMMM, Trump never ordered a single bomb dropped on Libya. Obama ordered 923 bombs dropped on Libya.

Libya was a stable and prosperous nation. It is now a bombed-out basketcase carved up and ruled by rival warlords.

you need to put things in their context, the arab spring.... Gaddafi was a ruthless dictator but he did in fact help his country develop with all the water pipelines to develop the desertic areas and bring fresh water to a lot of his population... this and many other things e did well. He was a ruthless dictator at the same time though.
The whole Arab spring brought a lot of instability in all the countries involved... Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Syria... and it kind of went out of hands. The Obama administration did have its share of guilt, as well as UN nations. We saw this as westerners, and that these were people trying to bring western democracy to their countries... how foolish!
With no real democratic structure, those things don't happen by themselves. I don't know if just sitting and doing nothing , let them deal with their internal stuff would've been the best option though.... I also think that those 5 countries had totally different stories, and even if we treat this as a whole, the reasons, the conflicts and the outcomes are totally different from one country to the next.

And yes, I like how warren has been bashing bloomberg... that was entertaining as shit.

Honestly, I don't think any democrat candidate is good this year, and I think trump will get his 4 more years unfortunately.
I liked this buttplug guy, sounds like a good VP for Biden? he'd make a great VP for sure.

If you want the truth, you must go the full measure if you go to war

Half-measures is what got us leaving our 20 year war with our tail between our legs sndAmericas youth wasted on PTSD and suicide

I hate politicians and big business who are war hawks run by lobbyist

Don't need a ban, as I'm not afraid of childish insults.

But what is disingenuous about it? Saxi posted a pictorial series bragging about how your country successfully blew apart another country. You reposted it. Presumably you also think that blowing up other people's countries is a good thing.

They also don't happen overnight. The first 100-150 years that the UK had an elected parliament, voting was restricted to a tiny group of rich landed gentry and there was a constant tug-of-war between a royal family trying to restore absolute monarchy and reformers trying to expand direct democratic participation. The UK Government was also pretty repressive towards political dissent for a long time before it adopted the laissez-faire approach it takes today.

You can't just scrunch a country's exiting government up, shove a totally different one into its place and expect that to work well. And to be honest I think the US Government is well aware of this; when was the last time it intervened to topple a dictator or oppressive leader in a country that didn't have strategic importance to the US?

well, in France it kind of happened "overnight", even if after that we've had two emperors/dictators, a return of the monarchy... and we now have a 5th republic going on since De Gaulle

After the French Revolution and founding of the First Republic, France saw multiple coups and violent uprisings and spent something like 85 of the next 100 years ruled by either a military dictator or a restored king. I don't think you get to count the revolution as a successful overnight transition from monarchy to republicanism.

Luckily for France the UK was on hand to repeatedly defeat the French dictators (Napoleon and Hitler) in battle, using the UK's superior tactics, firepower and backbone.

Humm... the other dictator I was thinking of was Napoleon III. But you’re kind of right... we could add Hitler as a third dictator in France. Pun accepted.
