
From 12:00 p.m. to 12:14 p.m. the Space Force had one person assigned to it, after President Trump ordered Gen. Jay Raymond transferred from the U.S. Air Force to the U.S. Space Force and designated Supreme Space Commander. At 12:15 p.m. the size of the Space Force increased to more than 16,000 troops after the President ordered the entire 14th Air Force moved moved from the U.S. Air Force chain of command to the U.S. Space Force chain of command. Space Force will begin independent recruiting operations in 18 months as it ramps up but, for now, will rely on personnel transfers from the other seven services.
