I like the planes but only use the simulator.

Have a couple of battery powered buggies and we grabbed a couple of new Kyosho mini z RWDs for our son and me.

You need to put more efforts into that original post to make it interesting, maybe add pictures. You're not even trying, my reply is already longer than your OP 4 nickels

I might participate in a discussion if someone actually gets it going. Otherwise it's another dead thread where internet know it alls explain how I don't know what I'm talking about. So no I don't need to put in as much effort into the OP as this reply.

The batteries are too expensive and don't last long enough. My son has an expensive Firestorm 10'HT with upgrades.

Yeah, my 1/8th scale buggy battery was pricey. I think I saved a bunch buying one from www,funshobbies.com Their website is down, maybe forever. Google took me to a Facebook page but they might have gone under. Shipping took a while but, the battery worked wel and never burst into flames.

The mini z runs on AAA batteries. So they are not as bad. We bought some Orion brand rechargeable units, hopefully they're good.

Here's a rather long video of the mini z World Cup in Spain. These ones are modified and pretty fast.

Here is a guy in Germany unboxing a stock one like we bought.

oh so those are the ones you drive on a circuit? this looks so hard as you drive it and kind of lose your sense of left and right at some point if you aren't super concentrated

Yeah, even the larger road racing type cars need a pretty clean smooth surface. At an outside place like a tennis court, some guys will sweep it every time just before they use it.

You don't need a circuit but it's probably the most fun place to use them. Sometimes you lose focus and crash. The challenge to concentrate is part of what makes racing both difficult and fun.

My brother and I bought Monster Beetles...25? years ago. Souped them up with high power motors, better gearing, suspension, etc. Ran the absolute CRAP out of them, went thru 6 bodies, tons of parts....really had fun. Then....kids......lol

Broke mine out a few years ago and made big ramps to jump the kids....damn thing still hauled ass and ran like a champ. Can take a hell of a beating....

Stock video

I think the planes are cool but too spendy. LOVE to make some cool old plane with the awesome radial engines they have out....$$$$$$

EDIT: check out this beauty...my fave all time plane....

Loved the Tamiya, Baja Bug and Wild Willys. Never got either.

We went to an R/C plane air show near here once. Guys had functional jets. It was pretty incredible.

My mom bought us an airplane sim, possibly real flight but like maybe the first issue of number 7?
Has a realistic remote with a long USB cord.

We crashed thousands of dollars worth of simulated planes. Like maybe over fifty grand in the first few days. My son was still pretty young so he often couldn't even take off. I would take off for him, then hand him the control.

I wonder what year that was?

i have a cousin that is completely nuts about RC flying stuff. he makes his own drones, planes, choppers, even ground effect planes. I've had some fun with him, but he's a bit too obsessed.

As a kid I used to have a few RC cars (nikko if you know the brand?) I also had an amphibious car at some point. I've never really been into it growing up, but I definitely could... I have a daughter now and it was for those type of crap i wanted a son lol (i still think at the end of the day a daughter is better)

Nikko sounds vaguely farmiliar but I don't know them.

My daughter wanted a truck so we bought her a pretty good less expensive one for thrashing. I tried to get her interested in off road racing but it did not work out.

Her brother is finally wanting a mini z so I started getting interested too, that's why we grabbed two of them. There is a track the hobby shop, the guy told us if you buy the car you can pratice free but I have not seen anyone there. So I am going to share mine with my daughter so he has someone to race with.

I hope we will all have fun with them for a long time but, they might end up getting abandoned in a few months.

Well if you make events for your kids with the cars and they still work they sure will keep on playing... more so if they have other friends on board. How old are your kids mate? Like 12 and 10, something like that?

He's 13 and plays mine craft online with his friend. So I might be misplacing my hope here.

My daughter has out grown it a bit, also she was always the adult at our house but will likely play at least a few times.

Oh come on.. don’t tell me playing rc cars is not more fun than playing video games!
I had more like buggys and would build jumps with my friends for our rc cars, that was so much fun. The bateries were crap and you could play less than 10 minutes though

Yeah, I would like to get more batteries for my buggy. It doesn't last long enough on one.

I agree R/C is more fun than video games. We will have to wait to see if he will come around. He has enjoyed the junky ones he had so I hope this will be better. We bough four sets of rechargeable batteries hopefully they will run for longer.

Thinking of buying an Orion charger but they are kind of pricey.

So the young ones and I got some stomach flu on Chrstmas day. A bit nasty, but at least it did not last long. I'm just getting my appitite back.

We have not run them much but I did unbox mine, set the trim and checked it out. They are much lighter than I am used to. I am kind of spoiled with higher end off road stuff but they definitely look fun.

It started in the morning. We didn't even go near the bird.

The young guy was feeling good enough by then to eat plain rice, daughter was not eating again yet.

My dad, my wife and her parents one of her brothers, sister law and their kids ate while I made a call to Ralph on the big white phone.

Made the young guy watch this video explaining lines in a corner https://www.youtube.com/watch?i=aZlOkt1oU2k then hit the track.

The Orion AAA cells worked better than expected. The cars ran for around an hour and a half. I enjoyed trying to keep up with him but pretty soon I won't have a chance.
