Another body claimed by toxic US politics: the planet.

We are in agreement?

You mean you agree that Global Warming/Climate Change is a real problem?

Because that’s what mrswdk and I are agreeing on... I think you’re agreeing on something else.

I’m ok with public transportation. I’d be happy to give up my private car if we could get together and build public transportation that worked, was cost effective, clean, reliable. I know it can be done, but I don’t think the politicians can stand up to special interests. Is that what you’re agreeing with?

I didn’t think so.

in the cities I've lived in, you're allowed to take bikes on non-rush hour trains. lots of buses have bike racks, too.

helpful tip - do an online search for [local transit authority] bikes. It will usually help you find relevant information!

example https://www.mbta.com/bikes

buses..??

buses would not be eco-friendly enough for the Green New Deal.. + without cars .. then you would have to account for a massive increase in the number of train passengers & a massive increase of bikes being used daily..

a electric train would have to be able to accommodate a potential bicycle for every passenger. considering it would not be feasible to build high rise trains for every residential sector & business sector.

like in the 1st poster. the city is about 3-4 miles away in the distance. and there is a single train passing by.

The posters, real or fake, are not detailed plans.
They’re just posters.

You’re not supposed to take them literally.

All this talk of bicycles, buses and trains are fascinating, but you all sound like a bunch of people in the suburbs. (I should know because I am from the area that goes between suburb and farmland.) In NYC, for example (and it's a good example because that is where AOC comes from) few people in the city who use bicycles actually own them. There is a rental system that's in place. You take the subway /bus to the general location, then go to the parking spot where the rentals are, insert your card and take your bicycle. You don't even have to return it to the same spot.

There are a lot of problems in New York, but honestly, I think the problem is more with the people. I was in Bangalore a long time ago; cars sharing the road with bicycles, auto rickshaws, and animal driven carts. It was crazy but it all went smoothly, in its own way. Mind you the traffic cops were mostly in secure bunkers but ...

a) Please show me where it says that in the job creation bill. What you posted about is some Andrew Yang stuff. Which will happen eventually, but we don't quite need UBI just yet. Automation and the need for UBI is a big 2030 problem. The fact that the world is dying and we need to create jobs to make it die a little bit less is a 2019 problem (if not like a 1995 problem, but, Congress, right?)

b) You think $1000 a month is enough to live in luxury? In the United States???

A) Andrew Yang
B) was at the end

But Andrew Yang isn't Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or any of the sponsors of the bill, since he's not in the Congress. Ergo, his baby, UBI, which solves 2030's problems today, isn't explicitly a part of the GND. Which, again, is a job creation bill. Like the New Deal, which these posters draw artistic inspiration from.

And fair, I read the eyeroll as rolling eyes at the idiocy of UBI. Fair cop.

I was about to say 'countries where people drive like that have a lot more road accidents', but then I looked it up and although Indian roads are indeed much more dangerous than European roads, they are apparently roughly equally as dangerous as American roads:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_c ... death_rate

How tf are American drivers so dangerous?

It’s funny that you equate marketing materials with “information presented to the public to educate them on the topic”.

=D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

This isn’t the stupidest thing you’ve ever said, but it’s pretty idiotic.

Marketing Materials are simple propaganda.

If you want to understand the subject properly you gotta go a little deeper Nomad.

... but you’re pretty basic in your thinking, and going ‘deep’ and understanding innuendo or context is obviously a bit beyond you.

It’s ok.

so you are saying you never use any Marketing Materials to make decisions on what to vote for...

hmmmm..
let's see.. you would not use anything listed below..

Marketing Materials

Marketing Materials means

1) advertisements (such as material published, or designed for use, in a newspaper, magazine or other periodical, radio, television, telephone or tape recording, videotape display, signs or billboards, motion pictures or other public media), sales literature (such as any written communication distributed or made generally available to customers or the public, including brochures, circulars, research reports, market letters, form letters, seminar texts, or reprints or excerpts of any other advertisement, sales literature, or published article), educational or training materials or other communications distributed or made generally available to financial intermediaries or prospective investors in connection with distribution or servicing activities, and any other material constituting sales literature or advertising under FINRA rules, the 1940 Act or the 1933 Act.

2) means all advertising and marketing materials, including packaging, tags, labels, advertising, marketing, promotions, displays, display fixtures, instructions, technical sheets, user guides, data sheets, warranties, websites and other materials of any and all types, in any format or media, associated with products or services within the Steel Fields of Use that include any of the Licensed Marks.

https://www.lawinsider.com/dictionary/m ... -materials

you wouldn't reference .. Educational Material, Research Reports, Data Sheets, communications distributed or made generally available, Technical Sheets, Websites, or other materials of any and all types in any format or media associated with products or services...

you used the terminology " Marketing Materials.. " saying you would never use Marketing Materials to decide on what to vote for. .
so if you do not use any of the fore-mentioned things.. I have no clue what you use...

seems I was right. you just vote Blue.

present me with something that shows the complete green new deal plan..

Dude, your the guy that started this thread and began making detailed critiques of the Green New Deal based solely on their posters.
Apparently you don’t need more details to find it to be a bad idea... all you need to know is it was proposed by “the Left”... and then you pass judgement.

The only thing I claim is that it’s a poster.

You’re the one trying to get deep meaning out of it and using it as your sole source for the detailed proposals made by Green New Deal proponents.

Are you ok? You keep flip-flopping on this.
First you read deep meaning into it, then you claim that’s not true, and now you again are saying it’s a ‘forecast of the future’.

You should pick one idea and stick with it.

You keep trying the same dumb tactic.

You’re the one who started this thread...I’ve not commented on the Pro’s or Con’s of the GND.

I’ve only commented on your taking of the posters literally... it’s so funny.
You critique the whole thing based on a couple posters!

It’s your thread, if you want to provide links supporting your disdain for the program, go for it.
Right now your disdain is based solely on the posters, so we now see you don’t really like to understand something before you start bashing it!
