Brazil is on fire

Postby mrswdk on Fri Aug 23, 2019 10:21 am

The so-called 'Trump of the Tropics' - Brazil's president - is busy burning the world's lungs to the ground.

It is time for obsolete national boundaries around the world to be removed so that humanity can fight for its survival and prosperity as one in union.

France and Ireland say they will not ratify a huge trade deal with South American nations unless Brazil does more to fight fires in the Amazon.

French leader Emmanuel Macron said President Jair Bolsonaro had lied to him about his stance on climate change.

There are currently a record number of fires in the Amazon rainforest - a major source of oxygen for the world.

Environmental groups say the fires are linked to Mr Bolsonaro's policies, which he denies.

European leaders have also expressed dismay over the fires, with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying he is "deeply concerned" about "the impact of the tragic loss of these precious habitats".

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called the fire an "acute emergency... shocking and threatening not only for Brazil and the other affected countries, but also for the whole world".

ITT: NP thinks the way paper is produced is by burning trees.

Mrs - Let's get rid of plastic
also Mrs - let's not burn all the trees we make paper out of to replace the plastic.

Our species is stupid.
Siberia is burning, lots more places.

The pacific salmon stocks have reduced enough the orcas no longer get enough to eat.
When the salmon go, which they will, the temperate rain forest is toast along with the wildlife.
The salmon feed the forest.
That will be another forest gone.

Keep buying those burgers, especially the ones on special, who cares the Indonisian rain forest gets cut down for palm oil as long as we have cheap fast foods. lol

We are experiencing the 6th mass extinction and the best leader the U.S. can produce is Trump.

We are so toast.

No worries tho, as the Moslems and Christians say, the son of Mary, Jesus, will save us.

On a hopeful note, inhabitable planets seem to continue to be discovered.
Maybe Jesus can teach us how to achieve light speed.

Just for arguments sake, and dont get me wrong, I like what Jesus spoke about.
Too bad nobody can figure it out but we are a stupid species.

Anyway, Jesus was far from the first to say he had the way to ever lasting life.
Buddha was later of course but Oden was earlier, so was Zeus and gods like Huitzilopochtli or Unkulunkulu (who created everything) that story wasnt knew either.
Anyway, they all have the everlasting life story goin on.

It was an old story by the time Jesus told it, not that it not true of course.

Yeah, um... the trees we use to make paper bags out of is completely different than the rain forest.

Just saying.

Fast growing trees used in the construction of paper can help reduce carbon, recycling helps.

Trees - use for wood products... recycle those they can be cardboard boxes... recycle those they can be paper bags... recycle those for newsprint.

trees take I would guesstimate a minimum of 10-15 years to grow to a level big enough to be used for paper production..
ending single use plastics in 2019 globally and converting over to paper would require a massive amount of tree pulp...
so, which forests should we be cutting down then...?
what happens when we run out of trees to cut down to make paper out of.. ?

it's about oxygen .. isn't it..?

humans cannot just magically create a forest to make paper.. and cutting down trees constantly , processing them into tree pulp & producing paper products, then transporting megatons of paper products globally would leave a huge carbon footprint..

"Trees used for paper production are trees that are harvested during thinnings. You can often do your first thinning 10-20 years after to planted the tree depending on the tree you use and your soil.

If you're planning on growing trees for paper production be mindfull that wood for paper production doesn't pay scrap."

I guess the USA is entirely in line with its own history, supporting Pinochet in Chile, and now Bolsonaro in Brazil.
