I give 2 sh!ts about being called a racist.. I know I am not.
Nomad lives is a different world with a different set of ‘facts’ and where words have different meanings than they have in everyone else’s world.
Trying to convince him he’s wrong or even just mistaken is impossible because his ‘facts’ are malleable.
Words like ‘racism’ don’t mean the same thing... that’s why he’s able to convince himself that he’s not racist and neither is Trump.
well let's see how this works then..
Jimmy . do YOU care if you are called a racist?
if you are not a racist. and someone calls you a racist. do you actually care about being called one.?
I suppose it depends who’s calling me one.
If it was you, then no.
If it was one person on the Internet, then no.
If I was repeatedly called racist by multiple people over and over again... even random people online...
I might ask myself... “why do they say this?” “are all these people just dumb, or am I missing something?”
I might question myself enough to try to view my posts from their perspective... and if I was honest with myself maybe I would learn something.
"if, if, if, might, might, maybe".. sounds like you cannot stand your ground on your own beliefs.. you would question yourself if people told you too.. that if people called you racist ( even though you know your not) you could be convinced you are.
Again I ask.... do you know how to read? Can you comprehend sentences and ideas outside your existing believe structure?
It doesn’t appear you can.
It’s not a matter of ‘not standing your ground on your own beliefs’. I never suggested you changed your ‘beliefs’.
In this case the belief would be something like...
“I think it’s ok/not ok to treat people differently because of their race.”
You can choose either side of that ‘belief’.
No matter how much I talk I’m not going to change that belief.
What I am suggesting is that if enough people say something to you repeatedly... then maybe, just maybe, it’s not them who are wrong... it’s you.
Therefore, it doesn’t hurt to re-examine yourself.
In this case you seem to be saying...
“I’m not racist, because I don’t think you should treat people differently because of their race.”
Then you continue saying and posting stuff that people call racist, and you say...
“That’s not racist. I know it’s not racist because I’m not racist.”
If enough people tell you what you are posting is racist then either...
1) You’re mistaken and it is racist... and being the non-racist person you claim to be you should try to understand why they think something is racist and you don’t see it.
2) They are all mistaken and you’re right, it’s not racist. However, since language is a shared experience, words mean only what the majority of people say they mean. If the vast majority are calling something racist then it’s racist.
3) You accept that what you are posting is racist, and you don’t care. In which case you truly are racist.
... I guess there’s a 4th option... which would be that your intellect is so much beyond everyone else’s here that it’s silly for you to even try to talk to us because there’s no way we’ll ever understand you. I’m thinking this is the only option you’ll accept as possible.
