Trump: "non-white people are not real Americans"

US President Donald Trump has been accused of racism after posting tweets attacking Democratic congresswomen.

He claimed the women "originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe", before suggesting they "go back".

The tweet was directed at a group of four congresswomen of colour; three were born and raised in the US while the fourth moved to the US as a child.

Republican Party representatives kept quiet amid a wave of criticism.

The president wrote: "So interesting to see 'progressive' Democrat congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful nation on earth, how our government is to be run.

"Why don't they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done.

"These places need your help badly, you can't leave fast enough. I'm sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!"

Trump was talking to four US nationals, three of whom were born in the US. Despite that he thinks America does not count as their home country, because they are brown.

So, the quote in the title of this thread is correct and it stands.

Unless the BBC is outright lying, which I doubt, then it’s pretty clear that Trump’s tweet was directed at the four Congresswomen that mrswdk states.

Given that then mrswdk’s OP is fair and the quote marks are obvious satire.

I mean, let’s not try to pretend Trump isn’t bigoted... he is. Is he an outright racist? Maybe, maybe not... but he’s definitely bigoted and perfectly capable of pandering to his biased/racist base.

Saying “go back where you. came from” to a nationalized citizen is rude but can be technically correct.
Saying that to a natural born citizen is just idiotic.

Sorry... I’m definitely not a fan of mrswdk.... but she’s less dangerous (and smarter) than Trump.

Oh wow, trump and his press secretary say a story they don't like was fake news? Geez that never happens when trump tell the truth right? Personally, I'm not underestimating him. I still say he has 85% chance for re-election, so if anything I'm overestimating him compared to "polls". But that doesn't mean I have to agree that Haitians all have aids, or that only Norwegians should allowed to emigrate to USA.
