"Early Renaissance" art, what it looks like

Postby HitRed on Sat Jul 13, 2019 12:09 pm

A lot of early renaissance shows a lot of skin. Garden of Eden stuff. Here are some others. Note in the bottom image the mirror in the background. Cool effect.

Oh it goes much further than that - each of the round panels is also a mirror-image from a slightly different perspective. If you can get a high-enough resolutio image, zoom in.

It's funny that you think nudity is 'Garden of Eden stuff'. Have you not seen a naked body before? Has your mind been blown by the fact that art produced outside of the United Emirates of America shows uncovered human bodies?

I'm curious as to whether the mods are going to slam the ban hammer over this again.

Can't see it. The mods have been worn out.

I would think Europeans appreciate the body. Americans lust after it.

I showed Michaelago statue and Duk deleted that.

Perhaps C.C. administrators have been enlightened to true art.

Have you ever been to the United States?

I’m guessing no, because your comments demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of ‘American’ culture.
... also that fact that we are so diverse region-region that in many ways we’re actually like 8-9 different countries/cultures.

The religious right who is in bed with Republicans want to ram their religious values down my atheist throat.

They won't be happy until we are all forced to say morning prayers at public schools, with gun toting teachers.

Won't be long before they try to turn America into a Christian Theology State.

Jesus would puke at what America has become under Trump and the spineless Republicans.

You might be right about half these statements you’ve made... but the chance of the US becoming a ‘Christian Theology State’ is zero.

There’s a higher probability of the US breaking up into several countries, of which one or two might be Christian States.
(... and that’s still a very low probability.)

So is there such a thing as American culture, or is there no such thing as ‘American culture’ because there are actually 8-9 different cultures present within US borders? Let’s try and nail at least some of your jimboston jelly to the wall before getting the discussion going, otherwise we’ll just end up going round in circles.

all depends how you define culture, and how narrow or broad you want to make that definition

I could make a definition that would include all human culture.

There’s an American culture, and there are subcultures that are interest based and also subcultures that are regionally based.

There’s no major ‘American’ culture that looks anything like the picture you post, though there are minority subcultures that wear burkas sure.

... but you didn’t answer my question.

Funny, see I attempt to have an honest give-and-take dialogue here and I reply and answer questions.
You (and other Trolls) ignore questions they don’t like the answers to.

American culture is all about cars.

Driving while smoking cigs and joints

Driving and eating

Driving and drinking alcohol

Driving, parking and having sex

Driving to Drive In outdoor theaters to eat, drink and having sex. Truly a favorite a few decades ago.

Driving all around this great country (try avoiding Texas panhandle) with friends, family or driving solo looking for hitchhikers (always carry duct tape and shovel)

American society is very prudish when compared to any other Western country. What have I misunderstood?

Again... you haven’t answered my question.
Have you ever actually been here?

I’m pretty sure your exposure to ‘American’ society/culture is very limited based on your comments.

There are certainly times and places where it might seem or be ‘prudish’.

Then there are other times and places where’s it anything but.

I mean just listen to pop music or see a few movies... don’t seem very prudish to me.

Have you ever been to a nightclub in NYC or Las Vegas or Miami?

Have you ever been to a rock concert... or a country music festival.
You’d think Country Music would have more ‘prudish’ type folks, but I can tell you from firsthand experience some shows are anything but...

Ever been to a college campus on Thirsty Thursday?

New Orleans?

New England, where I’m from, may be more ‘prudish’ than other places... but it’s not devoid of non-prudish activities.

You might want to actually visit a place and have an open mind before you start defining a place you seem to know nothing about.

I've always loved the question- what is the Renaissance? Is it a period of history? Is it local to Italy? Is it an artistic movement? Is it a philosophical movement?

This is a question I love discussing, but I'm on a really shitty laptop using really unpredictable wifi.

Remind me in a week or two.

Lol- no. When you get a working computer, you can discuss it with me if you remember. I like the question, but I'm not sending you reminders while you get your laptop fixed mate.
