All Oakland can do is instruct police not to enforce laws regarding to possession, and decline to prosecute those cases that come before city courts. The sale of these substances will still be prosecuted.

Anyone in Oakland that drives high on mushrooms are still breaking all sorts of city,state and federal laws and will be fully prosecuted.

But Nomad already knows this, he's just being willfully ignorant. He purposely uses quotes from "advocates" rather than those actually within the gov't who write, sign, enforce laws.



There was an attempt recently (2018) to get a state level decriminalization (not legalization) of Psilocybin onto the state ballot. It failed miserably because there is virtually no will among the larger CA population to decriminalize it. They would need over 20 million votes to legalize, and they didn't even get 300,000 people to sign the petition to get it in front of voters. Democracy is working!

To answer your question: we can make society safer and give people greater access to treatment or being open about their issues with a legal substance

As soon as something is illegal, it becomes a moral issue which is asinine

I've done both mescaline and psilocybin. Both are non-addictive and but should also be treated with respect. The same community safety standards should be applied to legal substances

This is helpful because:

1. It reduces the instances of the community becoming "criminals", therefore helping the economy and social structure
2. It let's people come out from the shadows to discuss their use which is overall helpful
3. Police resources can be used elsewhere like, DUI check points or meth house busts
4. Society is overall safer
