Australian press investigated for misconduct

Postby mrswdk on Wed Jun 05, 2019 7:12 am

Media outlets sometimes act as if they are above the law and have a license to behave in whatever manner they please without consequence. Today, Australia joins the growing chorus of nations who refuse to let their national debate and dialogue be influenced and distorted by sadists whose only real agenda is to sell their current affairs products:

Police have raided the Sydney headquarters of the Australian Broadcasting Corp (ABC), in a second day of searches targeting journalists.

Officers arrived at the public broadcaster with search warrants naming two reporters and the news director.

The police action is related to articles about alleged misconduct by Australian forces in Afghanistan.

According to the ABC, Wednesday's search is about the 2017 investigative series known as The Afghan Files. The broadcaster said the series was "based off hundreds of pages of secret Defence documents leaked to the ABC".

The Australian Federal Police said the warrant was in relation to "allegations of publishing classified material" and that it "relates to a referral received on 11 July 2017 from the Chief of the Defence Force and the then-Acting Secretary for Defence".

Even if you (already) thought some of your favorite anchors were bringing home the dough, you’ll be shocked by the net worth of the richest news anchor. We’ve narrowed down the list to the 20 richest news anchors, including the biggest and most controversial names in media.

3. Katie Couric, $75 million

The beloved journalist has worked for NBC, CBS, and ABC at some point in her career since the late ’80s. Now, the best-selling author works for Yahoo as a global news anchor. At Yahoo, she garners a $10 million annual salary.

2. Sean Hannity, $80 million

Sean Hannity is a Fox News anchor and has hosted the mega-popular show Hannity since 2009. He began at Fox News way back in 1996 and has been rocking with the network ever since.

In addition to the television show, the journalist also has a syndicated radio show, The Sean Hannity Show.

1. Anderson Cooper, $100 million

Anderson Cooper is a journalist and former Anderson Live! host. A major correspondent for 60 Minutes, Cooper is also the anchor of CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360º.

OT has correctly responded with no objections to this move by the Australian government, signalling that people across the world are tired of the minority of journalists who seek to build their name by being quarrelsome and sensationalist.

Hurray for consensus!

There was an ice cream chain in Sydney called Wendy's. It was really strange to see and hear commercials for it since in Canada we have the American burger franchise using that name.
