AOC and Cruz fight against corrupt USG

Ocasio-Cortez and Cruz team up

US representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a progressive millennial Democrat who has frequently attracted the ire of the Republicans, tweeted on Thursday that members of Congress should not be allowed to become lobbyists after their service.

Senator Ted Cruz - a conservative Tea Party Republican - wrote back: "Here's something I don't say often: on this point, I AGREE... perhaps a chance for some bipartisan co-operation?"

A few more tweets later and both sides were agreeing to co-lead a bill banning members of Congress from becoming paid lobbyists - and other politicians were also chipping in to offer their support.

I actually support this. Congress members get there pension/healthcare for life and should go away.

The prospect of a future cushy salary with a big corporate is enough to make any representative toe that corporation's line while holding office.

The good ones should carry on fighting the good fight. Problem is they are outnumbered by the ones that should be eliminated.

Good news. Hope it happens.

1989 Tiananmen Square protests

The enduring image of a lone man confronting Chinese tanks has come to stand for the bloody showdown between thousands of protesters in Beijing's Tiananmen Square, and hardliners in the Communist Party who ordered in the army.
On June 4, 1989, soldiers surrounding the square started shooting.

Wuerkaixi, one of the student leaders, managed to escape. Thirty years later, banned from China and living in exile, he's still haunted.
"I am a survivor of a massacre," he said. "We just thought they were going to send in a group of police with their, you know, batons."
In fact, they sent in troops and tanks. Hundreds – maybe thousands – died.

Posing as tourists, correspondent Elizabeth Palmer and her crew visited Tiananmen Square, still such a sensitive location that visitors have to show ID just to get in.

There is nothing in this vast square to remind anybody of the events of 30 years ago – not a statue, not a monument, not even a tiny plaque. The events of June 4, 1989 have been erased from Chinese history.

STFU! If I told you once, told you a hundred times! Don't interrupt the adults while they are talking!

Sorry guys, my kid has bad manners.

Back on point. Our Congressional members are always tempted by cash....time to rein in these greedy bastards.

jusplay4fun is keen to distract us from discussing means of preventing politicians' rent-seeking. Wonder which corrupt politician he's related to?
