Does this mean you also vote for Lord Samwell Tarly?

strike wolf wrote:But Sam didn't do the right thing. He's not a fighter. He knows it. Jon knows it. Ed knew it. It's why they sugge sted he go to the crypt but no he had to prove he wasn't scared and fought along everyone else. Maybe if he's have gone to the crypt, Ed would have lived instead of dying protecting Sam so that Sam could run away.
I'm not denying that Sam has done brave things in the past (standing up to a white walker, defying his family, defying the Citadel, etc) but he was dead weight during the Battle of Winterfell and he would make a terrible king because he won't have the respect of those who he would be leading.
As far as smart, whoever fills the shoes of king/queen (if there will be a king/queen and they don't tear the whole thing down) will have plenty of smart people around to carry out the day to day issues and advise them on bigger matters.

I honestly was just looking for a character that no one mentioned that seemed plausible.

It seems they’re painting Jon Snow to be King, and it seems like that’s been the path for awhile... but I don’t see how they get there going through The Mother of Dragon (yes singular on purpose).
I can only guess maybe they have Daenerys get killed in battle... that would open a clean path for JS.
I don’t see JS fighting Daenerys.

mrswdk wrote:My main problems were that I thought the battle at Winterfell and that naval ambush in episode 4 both sucked.
The battle at Winterfell because the Night King and his army - who've been hyped up as the uber badass villains that will wipe out humankind ever since season 1 - lost the first battle they had with a weak human army because they let their supreme commander get suckered and stabbed to death by a little girl with a dagger, even though he was surrounded by hundreds of his troops and generals at the time. Talk about an anti-climax. Also, GoT used to be a show that fairly happily and regularly killed off major characters when they blundered into dangerous situations, yet all the significant characters involved in the battle at Winterfell survived even though by the end half of them were literally being dragged to the ground by several white walkers. Sam, the Hound, Jaime etc. all should have died.
When the dragon got shot at the start of the naval ambush it was so unbelievable I assumed it was a dream sequence when the arrows started hitting it. Dany's flying high up in the sky and all of a sudden 2-3 crossbow bolts fired from a ship bobbing up and down in the sea smash her dragon to pieces with pinpoint accuracy? Then a dozen different crossbows are suddenly incapable of hitting the second dragon even after it's flown much closer? After which she just runs away and her entire fleet is pulverised, during which one of her main allies is captured from the wreckage but everyone else just swims to shore and is fine. How did Dany fail to notice the fleet waiting to ambush her anyway, given she had a great aerial view of the whole area?
A lot of it has still been pretty good but at times it really does feel like the writers are just cutting things short for the sake of wrapping up the story, which is even worse when you consider they've been happy to waste time on pointless side scenes where unexpected people hooking up with each other, or that Wildling guy moping around like a dope trying to pull Brienne.

Theory: They fake us out and Cersei falls almost without a fight (Euron realizes the kid isn't his [thanks to Tyrion] and jumps ship, the Golden Company follows a similar path to the books and betrays Cersei to support Dany because they're secret Targaryen loyalists, Jaime kills Cersei and gets them into the palace). Things fall out for Dany when she repays Jaime by burning him alive getting Tyrion to jump ship and proceeds to do the same to others who have "wronged her family" causing Jon to finally realize he needs to push for his birthright that he just learned about) to stop Dany. Jon's team wins a hard fought, uphill battle.

Last episode we eliminated the Night King and all his minions, this episode we dropped another dragon, the next episode we should see the end of the Unsullied and the last dragon. After that Daenerys will have nothing but her twat and her overdramatic Captain-Kirk-like speeches to leverage any attempt at the throne. She will gradually fade into a caricature of her former self.
My predictions for the final episode. I expect Cersei to finally go too far in playing Euron against Jaime. Jaime will kill her and Euron, and the remnants of the Mountain will kill Jaime. Sandor and the Mountain will finally have their fight to the finish, which will be pretty dramatic although probably too long. Sandor will put up a great fight but go down to defeat in the end, at which point Arya will finish the Mountain.
Tyrion will be revealed as a bastard Targaryen; he will finally consummate his marriage with Sansa and they will take the throne together. At least I hope so. I know the depressingly predictable ending is that Jon will take the throne, but I hope not. Nothing against Jon, just that it would be too cliched and depressingly predictable.
Well, actually I do have one thing against Jon...mrswdk wrote:I think they're starting to telegraph that the writers are asleep at the wheel.
