Saxi, you do realize Macron's popularity is actually rising because of the Gilets Jaunes? His popularity went up by 3% this month and is up 7% in total since the french elections. Meanwhilst the Gilets Jaunes lost a lot of their support because of their vandalism.

Different system. The USA is a two-party system, France is not. It's a lot easier to get higher approval ratings when there are less alternatives out there.
That's like comparing profit ratio's and cost assessments between tech companies and manufacturing companies. You cannot make that benchmark.

To make it even worse, Trump's average approval rating is apparently worse than any other american president in the past 80 years. And whilst saxi likes to point out monument financing in France was insufficient, in the USA the national parks alone have a repair backlog of $11.6 billion.
