People benefit differently based on the current structure of society, so depending on who we're spending time with, it shouldn't be expected for both parties to pay equal amounts.

My best friend was cheep. asked a girl out in high school and went "Dutch" so she paid half. Then bragged about saving the money during school lunch! His mom found out a few days later and nearly skinned him alive. that was his final date in HS. Couldn't imagine why.

The pay gap is over the entire population and is based on the fact that most women (like that person who is currently portraying Dr. Who) do not spend continual time in the work force, taking time out on multiple occasions to have children. Continual longevity is the key element in the pay gap.

The average people coming right of college generally have similar wages.

The article, on the other hand, talks about how the lifestyle of women is more expensive than that of men. But that's typical of you to make an argument and use an article that says something completely different.

But a gentleman should always pay for the first date because he is a gentleman. Of course there are circumstances where the rules change.

Remember the whole article mostly concentrated on cost of living. These come in two factors; biological and cultural but the article centers on the cultural.

Expectations around women's appearances and behaviour have material and personal costs. Women's physical appearances are held to impossibly high standards and a routine subject of ridicule everywhere from the entertainment industry to The White House.

And this is where it breaks down. The question can break down into cultural and even social divisions. I think the real problem is that HER lifestyle, which is a component of her choices, where she lives. It's also a question about how she views the spending choices of others.
