It's funny because some of the UK fringe right started talking about the EU creating an army a few years ago, and got derided for being fantasists:

A Franco-German-Belgian-Polish army? Wrong graphic ...

Germany is the country whose infantry train with broomsticks because they didn't budget any money to buy, like, you know ... rifles. The most basic infantry weapon.

Sargent gather us all around him.
He bellows we dont have rifles so were going to train with broomsticks.
'When you see someone you are to shout "bangity bangity bang" the person aimed at hits the ground and stays there until the end of the training."

ok, I figure I know the rules and out I go. Im sitting and waitin for someone and sure enough a fellow comes along and I shout bangity bangity bang....he doesnt go down so I shout bangity bangity bang...he keeps walkin towards me and I shout again bangity bangity bang.
The guy walks right up to me and says "tankity tankity tank".
