I went to the lodge In my city. Wanted to use my metal dector in the huge yard they have. They bemoaned the movie American Treasure and disliked all the false ideas about them. I found a buffalo nickel and a silver half dollar so maybe a little treasure.

They were nice to me!

seen all freemasonry movies on Netflix and Amazon. Inside the Freemasons on Netflix is more propaganda to recruit than an actual documentary.

This is my greatest find ever. Like a rookie card. Orloff Lake Bowen. Graduated Breckenridge High School in San Antonio, Texas 1935. Football, baseball, Latin club, band and Honer Society. This award was given to him by the American Legion in 1935. Bowen was accepted to West Point in 1936. Graduated West Point in 1940. World War II breaks out and he was sent to South Pacific where he received THREE Silver Stars for Gallantry in Action. Killed in Bougainville in 1944. Buried at West Point.

Bowen had a son that he never met. Took 3 months to track him down and returned item to him. The son now 78 became a animal vet in the New England area.

The American Legion was nice enough to donate the proper ribbon so it looks period correct.

History, its in the ground.

It has some history but it more or less tells the story of particular Freemasons. I'm infatuated with Freemasonry but would never join. I've been reading and learning about them for about 10 years. I own at least 10 books by Masons. my favorites are Encyclopedia of Freemasonry by Albert Mackey. The one I have is from 1917. And the secret teachings of all ages by manly P hall. The one by manly P hall has so much esoteric knowledge it'll blow your mind

About 12 years ago this thread would have been busy and had lots of entertaining posts in it.

I have met several members, usually someone working at a project I was also working on, most of them were quite cordial.

I used to be very interested in it. Sort of considered joining once or twice never very seriously. I was encouraged to look into it by a mason who worked where I did at a plant about three hours from my city during an expansion. By then I did not want to join.

Back in the 1900s it was usually difficult to get any books besides the ones they published for outsiders.

I agree this would have been huge back when. Now though, I've spent time with the Knights of Columbus, Shriners and the Masons and they all help raise money for hospitals or churches. Sure they have their secret hand shakes and close door meetings at night but that's part of the theater. Matter of fact they have BIG hearts and help the poor.

Nexflix on the Cartels would be much more interesting.
